In 1996, Lyle and Erik Menendez were convicted of the murder of their parents. In a new Netflix series called Monsters, the brothers, who were 18 and 21 at the time, revisit the trial that shocked the world. David Wilson reopens the case and shares how much fact is in the fiction. Plus, he explores the new evidence their lawyer believes, after 34 years behind bars, will see them walk free.

Its not that weird to not tell your therapist. I was in therapy a lot in my early teens and never mentioned I was being abused. It can take a long time to be ready to talk about stuff

The reason Erik didn’t bring up the abuse in therapy is because the therapist was made to sign a contract that would ensure he divulged the contents of the therapy sessions to his father!!!! He was too scared to tell his therapist!!!

Jose was very powerful, he selected the therapist and was checking in with him about what Eric was relaying in those sessions. Knowing the probability of this Eric would have stayed silent on the abuse.
I don’t for one second condone what Eric and Lyle did but they had their reasons and have served their time. The second trail was engineered to be unfair to the brothers not allowing any witnesses as before or the abuse evidence, the judge ( who should not have been the same as the first trail ) consistently overruled any objection from the defence as the DA could not afford another high profile loss. They should have got a manslaughter conviction at most!

Free the Menendez Brothers! I don’t like how it was mentioned they didn’t speak about it in therapy, this is because their father was in the same room at times and he also signed a contract to view all of the said notes about what was discussed etc. It is so heartbreaking and I think the parents deserved what they got!! I hope they eventually get released

They killed there parents who were monsters. If this happened now they probably would never of been jailed as ppl now listen to children instead of just taking the side of the adults.

2:40 this argument is only made by people that have NO understanding of child se* abuse at the hands of a family member. it is VERY common for victims to not say anything, sometimes until they are very very old, because of the shame and guilt, and fear of how others may respond. STOP spewing this ignorance and educate yourself on the reality of S/A trauma.

I watched this today the man explaining didn't explain about the two court cases the first talked about the abuse thr second it was all kept out due to having the same Judge, no unfair, free the brothers now.

I've watched all the documentaries and the monster's drama. I go back and forth, the big one is Lyle's tapes wth journalist, the spending spree after and the premeditation. I want to believe them but struggling.

Eric and Lyle killed their parents- overkill means that they hated them. Some people here are complaining about the over usage of hands, the presenters have been taught to mimic guests, simple, it irritates me too, but that's how showbiz works baby.
