Nominated this year for four Academy Awards including Best Picture, the film "Ford v Ferrari" tells the story of the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world's most prestigious endurance race. While the movie covers the race's underlying rivalry between auto giants Ford Motor Company and Ferrari, its true focus is on the two men, played by Matt Damon and Christian Bale, who helped develop Ford's racing program and establish the American automaker as a force to be reckoned with on the track. We highlight the real story of Ford v. Ferrari with some of the details that didn’t make it to the big screen.

With due respect to each and every artist in the movie, Christian Bale literally nailed it.

You know... We all knew who won Le Mans that year. Ken Miles is the Triple Crown King.

At the end of the movie enzo didn’t seem like the bad guy to me. He at least tipped his hat in recognition of ken unlike ford who seemed to forget that ken even existed

Now I think Ferrari's owner was right about the boss.

As a Englishman, i'm glad the film popularised Ken Miles for the selfless maverick he really was. Before the film, no one outside the UK knew who he was except for people who really know about the history of motorsport.

It's funny how a huge multimillion dollar company is portrayed as the underdog against a family company where at that time had no more than 12 people...

The ending of the movie is heartbreaking, Ken Miles took Ford to one of their greatest achievements and he was robbed of a perfect win based on a technicality, I legit got pissed

My father was working for Ford at the time. He also knew Walt Hansgen and said the movie is pretty accurate.

Miles was a WW2 war veteran who drove tank on the beach of Normandy on D-Day and survived.

Great movie but should have been called "Ford Fucks Ken Miles"
Ferrari hardly existed in this film

Ken Miles is the first person to ever win the triple crown and it’s not debatable.

I honestly felt empty inside after watching Ford v Ferrari. That scene where Ken Miles is testing out the Ford J-Car, even during Matt Damon's monologue, I was not expecting him to die there. After watching, I was thinking, they focused so much on the brakes giving out. Then Peter Miles asking Remington about cars exploding, and whether drivers were safe, if they always got out. The signs were there, but you root so much for Ken that you don't even worry about it. I put off watching the movie, big mistake. Absolutely amazing film.

It’s both a devastating and humbling story for Ken Miles to give up the triple crown to slow down for his teammates for the PR photo finish that Ford was wanting. It’s also redeeming to see how Miles let go of his pride and won more self respect than the triple crown could have given him.

When Miles went to Daytona he actually won by 5 laps ahead... Everyone was racing to get the 2nd place...

Let's not forget that Carroll Shelby said that one of the best Racers he's ever seen in his lifetime is Ken miles. Carroll Shelby said that there's only a handful of racers that have that Sixth Sense a third eye in racing, Ken miles was one of them. Carroll said you develop this "Gift" in racing where you not only know how to drive but you know the car and what it needs and what it don't that's something ken miles had.
