i must say the casting for this movie was brilliant everyone almost looks exactly like the real people I wish we could have seen an actor playing a young sherigu Miyamoto even if he was only in the movie for a few seconds

Just watched the film. Very engaging. I actually couldn't believe how much history there was behind the legendary game. I did a little research and that's how I came across your video. Very informative, thanks!!

watched the movie last night. A simple game but a complicated story. Loved it!

According to Henk his translator was a KGB agent but he knew that up front.

You completely misunderstood the licensing issue.
Stein's original contract includes computers and videogames (console) because it used a broad definition of computer. This was Stein's trick, which Elorg did not catch.
So Henk did sub-license videogame properly, but showed Elorg how the original contract with Stein screwed them.
That's why they pressure Stein into signing a new contract, which is amended with a narrower definition of "computer" so that now, Stein loses videogame rights.

The movie also heavily overshadows the existence of Vladimir pokhilko who helped to create Tetris and found animatek with Alexey.

I am a tetris player since early 90s, yes I am old. The movie was beautiful as it had the political climate at those (last) years of USSR, the history, riskiness of entrepreneurship, the complicated world of patent or license rights, meaning of freedom, suppression, integrity of a character in trade for true partnership and foxy bad partner screwing up everyone, friendship, loyalty, family…and the songs were just nice surprises in exciting scenes, great acting by ALL cast. Loved it, highly recommend 🙌

I didn't realize that was Ghislane's father while watching the film. Then learning of his mysterious death.. it's safe to say that being connected to Ghislane in any matter may result in death.

Amazing movie. Super engaging. I haven't enjoyed a movie about corporate espionage/politics/whatever you wanna call this in a long time. And it's about Tetris no less. The scene where they unveil the Game Boy prototype gave me literal chills.

AESPA's song "Hold On Tight" for this film deserves an Oscar!!! That's all I say!

I really enjoyed this. When they first announced the movie Tetris, I thought about the movie was more focused about the creation of the game itself. After I watched the trailer, I was very interested to see how it will play out. And in the end I must say I really enjoyed the movie, it was crazy to think that a game I enjoyed playing during my childhood, was involved in so much politics. Thanks again too for this review of the movie vs. reality, again I know we all enjoy a good a movie like Tetris, but was interesting at the same to learn some background of the game too and what it went through before it was released to the public, despite the few differences from the real story.

There is a quote from Henk Rogers saying that the translator was indeed KGB but that she didn't act nefariously.

I love that it's a story about a guy who wants to help other guy in Russia to publish his videogame because he loves it. Videogames unites people! 🎮

The only thing I think they missed in the Tetris story is the existence of Vladimir Pokhilko, but maybe they didn't include him because his story was so shady and controversial.

Absolutely, the history of Tetris is fascinating! It's true that many people have misconceptions about what really happened. The journey of how Tetris came to be and the legal battles surrounding its ownership is a rollercoaster of events.

Thought the movie really overplayed a lot of clichés - but it was still quite entertaining

The real story of Tetris is like a level you can't beat – full of twists, turns, and a few falling blocks along the way. It's like the game itself became a puzzle for lawyers! 😂

I’m glad that the two dudes that truly seemed to love Tetris (Alexey and Hank) got the full rights in the end.

Trifonov was actually a politician, not a KGB official, in the movie.
