It's also important to differentiate between soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble is going to be better fermented by the gut microbiome giving around 2 kcal/g and insoluble is going to help you poo.

The main thing is that they are very satisfying to eat while not gaining that much calorie! I love eating boiled Pak Choy and Cabbage but these veggies are hard to eat a caloric surplus on. If anything, they balance out the amount of protein from meat like steaks, salmon, etc. that I eat everyday.

Want to geek out about fiber even more? Look at the correlation between fiber and ApoB. Side note... Lentils and beans are my go to for fiber

Don’t remember the guys name but a nutrition guy on the Huberman podcast said the most important thing in your diet is getting more than enough fiber from fruits.

If you consume sugar, glucose, etc (not good for you for performance or longevity) you NEED fiber. If you eat HUMAN FOOD, (ruminant animal) you won’t even have to wipe after you shit.

I've eaten carnivore for almost 6 years. Fiber is Absolutely not necessary. We don't have the gut to digest it. Because I don't eat fiber, I don't pass smelly gas farts. 😂
