IMO you misunderstood the Prigozhin story - imagine middle level mafia manager challenges the mafia boss, do you think mafia boss can forgive that and keep mafia's respect? nope, mafia boss has to kill the guy, so he did

There's one thing that definitively proves that Putin's talk about NATO expansion is just a pretext - once Finland joined NATO he knew so well that there was no threat of attack that he pulled all his forces from the bordering Karelia and sent them to Ukraine. And there is a very vulnerable nuclear base in Murmansk which could be cut off from command and resources very easily from Finland. So if Putin saw a genuine threat in NATO, he'd have reinforced the border with Finland, not weakened it.

As a person who lived 30 years of his life in Russia - i can say that this guy knows what he is talking about (at least about Russia).
There are a few things that he missed, but nothing that he said was incorrect.

Putin was steeped in an obssessional nostalgia of the USSR and he never got over it.

I wish everyone would watch this video. It's spot on.

I am in and of the West but I can assure you I have NOT BEEN ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED ABOUT any aspect of Vladimir Putin despite what my simian likeness to the man may indicate. I've been obsessed about WHY it is that the West is so weak in the face of a flagrant violation of international law (the invasion of Ukraine) and the war crimes being committed daily in Ukraine on a massive scale.

Great interview, I learned a lot. Even though I live right next to Russia, I had no insight into the Russian way of thinking before watching this. I love Russian food, music, women, culture etc.. basically everything but the politics. I wear tracksuits and listen to hardbass in my '96 GLE Golf because my favorite person in this world is Boris (LifeofBoris). I wish there was a way for me to show the Russian people that they have friends, with plenty of things in common, just across the border up North. I want the Russians to know that behind the people cheering when they see Russian soldiers mowed down, there are many more who recognise the win for our side but cry in frustration over the waste of human life. I hope any Russian reading this, and this far inn in a long ass comment, I hope you don't believe the propaganda that everyone in the west hates you and celebrate your demise. It hurts and I grieve for their families.

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this particular interview. But now that I finished watching it, I have to say that it’s not bad at all. Very interesting points were brought up. Thank you, as always!

Nothing like a nuanced conversation a complicated topic with people who actually know the subject.

As a Russian listening to his vision on Putin’s Russia - seems very much like many Russians I know think about this calamity called Putin.

Putin's invasion of Ukraine is really stupid. The idea that he is some kind of genius is really stupid.

Mark vastly overestimates the likelihood that the war will end with some amenable political settlement after which Russia relations with the west can normalize.

The only way a settlement can be reached is if either Ukraine feels it has sufficient military capacity to defeat any future invasions or Ukraine is facing utter defeat.

If Ukraine has sufficient military capacity to easily defeat Russia then it would be able to recover all occupied territory. On the other hand, if Ukraine is facing utter defeat then Russia has zero incentive to settle.

The only sort of middle ground that is even possible would be a kind of armistice with a frozen no man's land like North and South Korea. But there would be no normalization of Russia in that scenario.

Remember krembots aren't decrying the problems of the west, they are gloating about them. Big difference. As an actual western dissident this angers me to no end...
