5 degrees C... no, you don’t know cold. Not until you have ice-crystals forming in your eyelashes from the humidity in your breath do you know coldness 🤣🥶❄️

Sadly the Norwegian Constitution forbade the mountain deal, lol.

As for the hippie remark, Finland has this thing called "jokamiehenoikeudet" (literally "every man's rights") which means that Finnish forests and uninhabited land areas are in public use; everyone can go hike, bike or ski there, set up a tent temporarily (while taking into account if there are any wildfire warnings or other restrictions and using only already dead branches on the ground), go pick berries, mushrooms or flowers, fish somewhat freely (including ice fishing, excluding some river areas etc.) and move along the waterways or on the ice in winter time. As long as we don't cause disturbances to the environment or the animals (especially nesting birds and game) or litter, cut down or harm living trees, mess around with motorised vehicles etc. then it's generally okay. There are exceptions to areas and when and how they're used (lands and forests that are national parks, under military jurisdiction or used for logging, hunting seasons etc.) but generally a lot of the hippie stuff is okay. (Like I hate picking blueberries but ones picked straight from the forest are delicious).

Finnish grammar is not a mess - it's actually much more logical than English grammar with its exceptions, exceptions, exc... BUT the Finnish grammar has a lot - a lot - of rules.
That's why it's a 'Godzilla'.

I find it funny how Americans often find it weird/disgusting that we eat reindeer here. In Lapland where its hard to grow cattle its perfectly normal to eat reindeer which is local, survives the cold weather and eats mostly moss (instead of grass which there is less of). I think its because the only association Americans have with reindeer is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (just imagine Rudolph is a local horse/cow).

Iceland is "explody" because it is made of volcanos. It's the world's biggest volcano island. Maybe you should do "Geography now - Iceland" next? ;)

Coldest have been 5 celsius??? Dude you are in trouble, that's just a basic day in the middle of may.

In february the cars won't start, you have to warm them up with electricity. You have to scrape the windows of the car because they are frozen.

There is a thing called lukkosula that is a liquid made for melting the ice from all kinds of locks so you can open them.

Sometimes there is so much snow that your car gets stuck in the snow and riding a bike is impossible.

Sometimes it's so cold that people die when they are drunk and they fall a sleep outside.

Sometimes it's so cold that two hours outside makes your face numb. Your fingers hurt when you are trying to flex them. You cant control your toe but they hurt.

The lakes are frozen and the ice can be half a meter thick. You can have a small parking area on the ice.

Sometimes the waterpipes of the older houses freeze.

If you stick you tongue to some metal outside on a cold winter day, you are not going to get it off. It freezes immediately and gets stuck.

You can make it snow by blowing water up with "lumitykki". They call it "fake snow"

If you want to know how it feels try taking a 5 min cold shower and add some menthol gel all over your body (which are made for sport injuries etc) and then go outside (5 celsius) wearing only your underwear and stand still for a while :D

"If you're lucky?"
Aurora Borealis are caused by solar wind, which are impossible to predict. So if you plan a trip to lapland and want to see them, you have to be lucky to get them during your stay.

Finland has 5 million people, or 5, 2
And the forests - Finns like walking in the woods, or parks, some like picking berries (not the youth usually), and some like hiking.

6% of the Finnish population are not Swedish - they're Finnish but speak Swedish as their native language.

Finland and Estonia use the same music for their national anthems because the composer (German) lived in both Finland and Estonia at one point or another. The songs have different lyrics and everything, but during Estonia's fight for independence from the Soviet Union, Finland (whose programs are on Estonian tv and radio) began to only play the instrumental version of the national anthem for sporting events and the like in a show of support to Estonians.

You have to take the ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki (and/or vice versa) when you get the chance, absolutely gorgeous ride - great views of islands, and the cities themselves.

I had a good laugh when Brian said "the coldest I've ever been to was +5 °C" 😂 The coldest ever recorded temperature in Finland is -51, 5 °C 🤷🏼‍♂️

About foreign relations and defence:
Finland has by far the best and friendliest political relations with Russia, when comparing to any western countries. Finland has also one of the largest defence forces of all western European countries, with the war time strength of 280 000 (The total strenghth of persons with military training is 950 000.), and THE largest artillery of the western Europe.
Who is our country defending against? Russia, of course.

Good relations and high level of military preparation seem to be in conflict. This is not the case. If the Finnish national defence capability was not good enough, Finland would have to to seek NATO membership. And expansion of NATO is what Russia fears the most. So, a strong, independent Finnish defence is a good thing for Russia too. And that is why our relationship is pretty good.

Of course, there are some fundamental things we disagree on, but we have agreed to disagree.
