Happy Saturday, everyone!

In today’s video I spoke about calorie counting and ways you can learn to stop counting calories and learn to trust your body!

If you’re new here: hi! My name is Kailin and I post videos that surround eating disorder recovery and lifestyle. I post videos like “What I Eat in a Week/Day,” hauls, unboxings, Q&A’s, reviews, and try to post videos that will be helpful during or after your eating disorder recovery. Don’t forget to subscribe if this is content that you are interested in! It really helps support my small channel.

I want to remind anyone struggling with disordered eating or anyone struggling with their body image to NOT give up. Your body is the least important thing about you. Your kindness, heart, intelligence, and thoughts are the reason people love you. It’s time to heal your relationship with food and start loving your body back.

Thank you guys for everything and for helping me reach 4600 subscribers! Insane!! I love our little YouTube family so much!

Here are some organizations/charities you can donate to concerning the Black Lives Matter Movement:

You don't need to donate money to help. Educate yourself. Listen to podcasts, read books and articles, sign petitions. Everything and anything helps. Use your voice to speak up when you see injustice and to spread awareness and also help highlight marginalized voices whenever you can.

I used to say "after I lose weight, then I'll try to stop counting calories" but I need to stop now... it caused me to actually gain weight, not lose bc I would binge when I went over the calorie limit that I set for myself.

Honestly this was/is one of my biggest struggles. It's something I always relapsing back into when I get stressed, because it's an easy thing to 'control'.

not counting calories is the hardest thing for me while trying to recover. i’ve memorised the calories in so many foods, but i have plans to order some jackfruit bites from a takeaway for dinner tonight! i have no way to know the amount of calories, and someone else is preparing it, so i’m challenging two of my biggest fears. i’m a little worried but also excited, i think once i try and gradually stop counting calories i’ll feel so much more free and happy. it’s way too stressful and i’m just done with anorexia, i want to feel free around food again. this channel is so helpful and i really appreciate you taking the time to provide us with this content, you truly are amazing!! <3 💕💕
edit/update: i had the jackfruit bites! i managed to eat all of it (except the vegan mayo at the side which i didn’t like), and i’m so proud of myself for being able to do something like this! it’s a small step, but at least i’m working my way towards building a healthier relationship with food. the important thing is that i enjoyed what i ate and it made me feel good, i shouldn’t feel guilty over it, and i honestly don’t feel as guilty as i thought i would! i’m really happy right now, recovery is definitely worth it, i can’t believe i ever thought otherwise

Deleting those apps was the best decision I ever made! Social media cleanses have also been so helpful, and YES I have unfollowed friends I know in real life because their content was not helpful, it’s HARD but it people who are your real friends will understand that this is a step you need to take to continue your recovery journey. Never feel bad for doing what is right for you 💗 love u kailin! Grateful for u earth angel 👼🏻

Calorie counting has helped me learn more about my body’s nutritional needs. I never realized how much I was under-fueling my body until I actually counted my calories and made sure that I was eating at maintenance every single day. If I were to eat intuitively, my body wouldn’t want to eat and I would just keep on losing and losing weight. I respect your opinion of course but I also just wanted to offer the perspective that calorie counting in itself is not bad. It’s the mentality that you attach to it that’s bad. I don’t beat myself up if I go over my calorie-ceiling for the day, I just accept that I needed more food for that day and move on with my life. 😊

"As human beings we shouldn't be thinking about every single thing that goes in our body 24/7." - Truest statement I have ever heard. About 4 years ago I quit meat, and over 3 years ago went full vegan. I am not hear to preach or advocate a certain diet or lifestyle. But, I have been bombarded about protein non-stop by people any time it comes up. "Where do you get your protein?" "What about protein?" "You know how bad it is to under-eat protein?" I just eat real food until I feel full. If I have a bad day of eating or snacking, I try to reflect and do better the next day. It is just a relief to not worry about calories or macros. Just reflect on if I feel like I am eating mostly real healthy food or not, breathe and adjust from there. (I just subscribed today, I see I am one of your few male followers - but I love your videos - even older ones like this. Keep up the content).

Every video you post, I feel so seen and capable. As always, almost brought to tears hearing you speak of how worthy everyone is of recovery and loving/trusting themselves. Ugh can’t thank you enough

i ate out yesterday, and felt a bit guilty for eating gozleme and a mcflurry... but i tried listening to my body this morning, and had a coffee and small orange for breakfast because I wasn't too hungry. thank you for always reminding me that it's possible to intuitively eat any time, anywhere; I did not ever have an ED, but i did struggle with body image issues and food guilt, and still do sometimes. your videos are so kind and accepting, and make me feel welcome :) love you always!

Love these, Kailin! It’s so empowering to look back towards the end of your journey and realize you know longer rely on those external numbers. Other things that helped me: buy new foods I’d never bought before, be aware of counting up at the end of the day & shut those thoughts out, knowing that calorie labels are allowed a 20% error- the numbers we put so much value in are often vastly inaccurate!

I recently started counting again after I actually stopped. I got the same app as before with my same old account and I feel terrible about it.. like I let myself down again. My thought was "Oh, I'm just making sure that I eat enough calories" but I know that's not at all what I am doing. Yeah, I'm eating more than I did a few months ago but I still won't let myself go over 1700 calories, just always around 1300.
Thank you for this video and your advices Kailin! 💛 I will keep trying and I promise that I will delete this awful app today. I want food freedom and I will fight for it. 🙌🏻

Thank you for this! An other problem of mine is that I never feel any food cravings, which makes eating even harder...

Stopping is so hard because I’ve memorized the calories of so many foods and every time I eat them or cook with them the amount of calories in the automatically pops into my head. I’m trying to be better at ignoring it but it’s still hard
