Today we're building a big block ford for under $600. I got this ford 460 from a 1996 f-250 in the junkyard and built it to go in the station wagon.

Man, there is something so appealing about videos done by small youtube channels. I like videos that aren't professional-level editing and camera work. This feels human and natural I dig it. I'm assembling my 460 too. I stripped it down to the bare block and cleaned it for hours and hours. Putting all the guts back in and praying everything works.

these 460's are all about the heads.. the early ones had 77CC chambers and the later ones had 90CC.. there are many diff heads avail that came on these

one thing ;people rarely take into consideration with cam timing is which time zone the wrecking yard was in where you got the engine.

Yes great job you’re doing on that big 460, I got a 460 a1990 I got to rebuild it. And that’s the way I’ll be doing it small place to work on it, wish me luck it will be my first one rebuilding a motor will I did do a 300 Ford a broken ring in it I put more stuff in it, well keep up the good work see ya next time have a good one will see ya later bye.

500 for carb and linkage. All the accessories and belts maybe 200 min. Motor mounts. Cam is 500 for flat tapper. 150 for the lubes coolant and oil. 40 for plugs. Distributor and wires for 200 any configuration, 600 for basic electronic. That’s stock exh manifolds which is good for this level. 300 to get cooling straightened around. C6 min rebuild is 230 plus 35 in atf. That will be 325 to 400 go .You can do the bottom end later for maybe 700 with shop crank work and get 550-650. What’s all that like 2500?

Great tip on the front seal, hope you noticed the metal spring that popped off the seal.

Competition 268 cams run so good in 429 and 460 ford and the delo 15 w 40 motor oil is good in big blocks

Using a wire wheel with no eye protection is always a smart idea

I used to harbor freight spring compressor and I used it on the heads and replaced all my valve seals

On good ol' Craigslist i was looking for a M400. (A little booklearnin at UTI).. Was gonna get the CHI 3v's and intake.. well fir $600 and delivered i found my gem with a C6 on it. Upon disassembly my bed was shat.. AUSSIE 2V'S already mounted!!!..
Put a Lunati roller and eddy performer intake.. tire boiler..

I got lo mile 1986 all original. Gonna delete smog pump egr, pcv. Swap timing gear and put turbo.

Ole time way : Paint both sides of head gasket before putting between block and head :)

As far as reusing your head bolts, it's perfectly fine when building a big block ford. The big fords have gigantic head bolts that can be reused sevral times with no problem. Chevys have much smaller head bolts & replacing them is were that rule applies much more often.

I felt it when you made those small mistakes bro…I try so hard to keep everything clean then end up eventually dumping a little dirt or gasket crap in the engine… at least we try 🤣

I'll tell you what a 460 is. One of Ford's best motors. You can pound the living shit out of those things and they keep coming back from war and especially if you made it up with a C6 transmission of that same year before they put computers on them and ruin them
