****** About Living Traditions Homestead ******

Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.

We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

If you start with cold water and slowly bring the eggs to a boil while stirring, the yolks will stay centered in the egg and the whites will be less likely to tear while peeling. The eggs only require 3 minutes to boil properly after coming to a rolling boil. If you have the time, you can "peel" the eggs by covering them totally with white vinegar overnight. The only part of the shell left at that point will be the membrane, which prevents the egg from acquiring the vinegar taste. To remove the membrane, pinch the egg at the large end. The membrane will tear and will come right off.

Looking good. I shake my boild quaileggs in a jar with a little bit of water so the shells crack and water seeps inside the shells. Then its 100 times easyer to peel them.
We have curturnix and celadon too. Not jumbo tho, just normal size. Hugs from sweden

We always had pickled eggs for Easter, they were done in pickled beets and it’s juice. And spices. Love them. And they were pretty

We pickle ours with beets! It makes them pink and my girls love taking them for lunch snacks. The teachers and other kids were so excited about them!

Matt I also add 2tsp of celery seed to the brine and thinly sliced onions to the jars. The onions and jalapenos are an added taste sensation

A guy here at our local farmer market makes pickled quail eggs. He also does a BBQ pickle brine I am addicted to. I make my brine basically like yours but rather than cayenne I use our local pepper called Datils. They are wonderful!

I just recently learned that with farm fresh eggs you should steam them, they peel like a dream. I use a specific sized metal colander the fits down in a pan with a tight fitting lid (so I don’t boil dry during cooking). Cook 15mins once water boils, for a doz. Chicken eggs. Then ice bath for the same time. Really does work.
