I had the gum removal surgery almost 30 years ago after the anti-rejection meds I was on with my first kidney transplant caused my gums to start growing over my teeth. Except it wasn't really a laser back then so much as an extremely hot iron and they shaved the gums down over a few hours... I was around 8-9 years old. Totally awake, no anesthetic whatsoever.

Gum reduction surgery really weirds me out because once your gums get pushed back, they never go back, it just gets deeper as you age.. it seems like such a bad idea to me, id rather have a gummy smile than anything else, , but i guess i see and understand the cosmetic side of it.

Isn't having more gums generally better for your teeth in the long term? They seem like they'd protect the teeth more and make teeth easier to brush/clean.

That actually looks more like a vestibuloplasty since the suture starts from below the mucogingival line, whereas crown lengthening’s suture starts from the papillae

Crown lengthening looks better. The laser removal made gums darker because of scar tissue from being burned off. Lengthening kept the original gum color, where you can see.

The Dr at my work used his laser for everything. LANAP. Crown lengthening, retraction, LAPIP or LAPIB, and hemostasis lol. He just loves his laser lol
