I had a root canal 3 years ago and it never felt normal. There was a lot of bone loss and before I got an infection, I had it extracted and had a bone graft. The tooth in front of it had a root canal when I was 12 years old, no problems with it. I will be 80 years old this year. That tooth was done by a Dr. Matzura in Detroit Mi around 1954.

This is really important, i have mouth problems, if your dentist wont believe you, if they read wrongly x ray scan, get second opinion, if you know, feel pain in your mouth, teeth, get second opinion. 💪🏽👍🏽

I had one root canal. I really didn't want it, but I got pushed into it. It never did feel right. Two years later, it completely failed. Had it extracted. In the future, if I have another such problem, I will just opt for extraction and skip the other problems.

Perfect video. This was my story! Thank you so very much. This is the first video I have watched that perfectly explained what happened to me. I suffered for four months. Finally after being told that my root canal was a success so many times I had a CAT scan done by an Endodontist that was independent of the other doctors. He said right away "The tooth must come out." And the next day I went to the oral surgeon and had it taken out. I would say 90% of my symptoms have cleared up and praying the rest does as well. During those 4 months I ended up in the ER with all kinds of symptoms that began shortly after the root canal was done. I had the beginning of bone loss directly under the root canal tooth when the CAT scan was done. I had had blisters right away after the procedure that were painful and awful. It was 4 of the worst months. I was determined to get the tooth out as I never had a problem before the day I had it done. I would hope to never get a root canal again. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

Great video ! One advice from a dentist practicing for 40 years: If you need a root canal on a molar, go see a specialist, They are called endodontists. They have way more training and experience than us, GP dentist...Success rate is higher when endodontic treatment is done by the endodontist.

I have posted this elsewhere. This is what an infected tooth can do to the rest of your body. Inflammation that can cause chronic back pain. When you try to sleep you will feel pain in many areas of your side, back and hips. As most know you can get types of heart disease. In my case I had an unexplained symptom where I would skip a breath. It would happen mostly at night when I was laying down before I fell asleep. It took many years before my dentist could determine that my tooth had an infection. I had previously had root canal on the tooth behind. Even the endodontist which I went back to see what was going on with the tooth that had an infection could only see a small crack. The root canal failed on this infected tooth and I had to get it pulled a few weeks after a partial root canal was attempted. You really can't imagine how many years I had miserable health from this tooth. The problem is x-rays don't reveal when infection is deep in the tooth itself. I did have bleeding when I flossed and pain on and off in the general area but they could never figure out which specific tooth had the issue. Sometimes I would get referred pain. Your body fights a losing battle with the tooth. By the way previous tooth that I had root canal on also took a couple years before it could be pinpointed. I had a parabolic scan on my mouth and the specialist could see any issues. If anyone says to me the ailments I had just resolved on their own and were unrelated to my teeth I would simply walk away. There is no doubt in my mind infected teeth cause significant health issues.

I have suffered from chronic hives for a long time now. No doctor could ever figure out why, though. All labs would be "normal" yet I suffered and suffered for years. My inflammation levels were always high, though.
4 weeks ago, had an 18 year old root canal tooth extracted because there was still a live root with an "angry abscess" around it.
2 days after the extraction, my hives went away!!!!
I'm thinking it was from the tooth!!

I had a root canal done, and a crown placed in March of 2022. I told my dentist, during two cleanings, that my tooth "just didn't feel quite right" when I bit down. I was told that it was because the tooth's root was very near my sinus cavity. 10 days ago, that slightly achy, odd feeling tooth, exploded into a massive abscess and infection. I went back to my endodontist, as my dentist was on one of her MANY vacations, and they did another panoramic x-ray. It showed a nasty chronic infection with a great deal of bone loss! I took a course of antibiotics, which worked somewhat, and I had that VERY expensive tooth pulled The infection was still active. So now I'm on another course of Amoxicillin and will have to have an implant. Listen to what Dr. Orr says in this video, and be informed, so you can be your own dental advocate. We are currently looking for a new dentist.

You are the first dentist to state health reflects on your teeth! I’ve been saying this to my dentists for years and they look at me as if I’m mad or not interested! I have long covid and teeth have literally fallen out! No bleeding just fell out! Too sick to see a dentist with vertigo too.. how do I do this! Fallen out implants too! 😱

Thank you for the explanation. I just find out that I have a root canal infection and my doctor referred me to a oral surgeon. Now I understand better.

I had this exact problem, but mine was an occasional stabbing pain deep in the jaw when chewing. My *new* dentist drilled out the old root canal and stuck in some medicine as deep as she could get it, then filled the tooth again. 2 years of 6-month x-rays showed the infection slowly going away. I'm not sure it's completely fixed but far, far better than it was. Thanks for explaining this issue.

I’m glad my dentist crowned my RCT right away. I broke the crown but 13 years later the roots are sealed and now I have a translucent zirconia crown now. My new dentists couldn’t even tell I had issues about the broken crown

My molar filling wore away, exposing the pulp and I left it untreated for over 6 months. Eventually I developed lung pain that has not gone away in over 3 months, my jaw became numb a few days, and I had a swollen lymph node on my neck. I didn't know at that time what all these problems could be until I read that bacteria from a tooth abscess could be responsible. I don't go very long after eating before I brush my teeth and rinse with a fluoride mouthwash. My lung hasn't gotten much better though. I think it is pulmonary actinomycosis due to the fact I scarred my lungs breathing in perlite dust on various very painful and memorable occasions.

I'mjust wondering, you kept mentioning bone loss. What impact does this have on a person? What are the consequences of bone loss? How is it fixed?

I have the exact problem from a 35 year old filling that fell out. The odd sensation when clenching the teeth together. I think the dentist will say 'root canal', and they seem to be more troublesome than they are worth. So? Pull it out? It seems like all dental procedures cause more trouble down the line.
