Love the BMW M140i because yes it has rwd drive fun and you can have flappy paddle auto or manual. It isn't the fastest but has a very strong very tunable 3.0l engine and I've seen examples that without too much in the way of modifications by specialist companies the average man can still get around 450 to 460 bhp out of one and around 500lb.ft of torque reliably aswell and I've seen the 0 to 60 times on them plummet from 4.6 seconds to 3.4 when this happens enough to blow any current hyper hatch away and yet they're priced way more cheaply than merc or audi

Personally think the Astra VXR is one of the nicest looking hot hatches made, and quick to go with the aesthetics.

Brilliant! Both cars I'm looking at got into the top 10. Civic Type R & Focus RS... this hasn't made the decision any easier as now I'm contemplating the M140 & A45 AMG... DAMN YOU JB! 😂

I've got an earlier M135i and these cars are the bargain's of the century easily! It's so much fun and was a cheap buy. Sounds great and isn't another boring 2.0 4WD soulless car...

What is most special about the M140i is that it has an engine way more capable than the already capable Golf R or Cupra. In fact, its 3 litre power plant is just as bulletproof as a 2JZ! In a lightweight hot hatch!
The B58 found in it has already broken 930whp (1100 crank) on the stock internals!
There's a German tuning company called Kotte Performance that has a big turbo stock internals M140i, with 800hp, plus, it has over 220, 000kms on it (135k miles), without any issues so far.
With new pistons and rods and some head work (leaving block and crank stock), it can reliably make well over 1000whp

M140 is definitely the best value for money!

I've always been a fast ford fan and I want my hands on RS soon. Currently I daily a S3 8p which I love.

My favourite hyper hatch has to be the 4 rings, the AUDI RS3 will forever 🔥

Gotta love how whenever hot hatches and fast hatchbacks are listed its always the Seat Leon cupra, cant forget the Seat Ibiza cupra or even the cupra black

I know you already had the EA888 in the list but I’d say the Golf R should be included in this list

My favourite hyperhatch is the 8Y Audi RS3 sportback

Not really a hot hatch fan, but the old Alfa Romeo 147 GTA - that tickles my pickle

Interesting that you prefer the A45 interior to the RS3. Merc interiors of that generation are possibly ahead of fake Audi exhausts in my list of things I hate about cars. While I also don't like the M140i interior, those things are properly rapid and a lot of fun too, it's between the M140i and GR Yaris for me.

I want to like the Cupra R and Golf TCR but every version of that chassis I've driven has made me want to go home and spend 4 hours staring at my already dry paint to see if it gets more dry, for some extra excitement...but I still do want to give those versions a go (plus a Golf Clubsport) since on paper they're my sort of thing.

Would literally be tempted by any of the cars on the list (except maybe the mini). But, if I could have only one the GR sounds amazingly fun to own.

hey JB, ive got a request for a video, it will be boring but its becoming more urgent than ever.... ULEZ compliant cars (no payment), more and more cities in UK are introducing (or extending) ulez zones and while its cool to keep and 'normal' car for weekend blasts on B roads we need some options to drive to work, i recently started working in central bristol and its painful... what im spenind on ulez charges could go towards monthly payments on a used hybrid, need advice!

Hi JB wanted to start my comment by saying i love your content man keep on doing what you do ever since i started to watch your vids i’ve learned quiet a lot about certain cars am a bit of a perf spec junkie and i find very entertaining to learn about cars specs and performance but i’ve got to say lately i’ve been watching a bit less of your videos not because of their content which as i said is always very entertaining but unfortunately for me i can’t really relate much to cars that are valued 10k+ on the market as i mostly look out for cars between 5-10k and lately most if not all of your videos were on 15-20-30k range cars which i can only dream of even on finance to be totally honest i would love to see again them videos of the best cars we could possibly get on the 2k to 5k range or 10k max range as i believe that’s where the market moves and changes the most and every now and again there is gems appearing in thoses ranges

I've had four ford fiestas on the trott, and when I was considering buying my last car, I did think about going for the audi R/S3, Golf R/GTI and even the BMW M135i routes. I went for fiesta number 4, of which its my second ST.
I'd love any of the cars on this list, but I think simply because a) I'm a Ford man, and b) because they won't be making anymore of them, it would have to be the Ford Focus RS for me, in the stealth grey. Such a good looking car
