5 depreciated front wheel drive hyper hatches with insane levels of performance, despite all being front wheel drive! These 5 cars all have genuinely ridiculous capabilities, particularly on track.

I hope you enjoy!

How is anyone going to think you spent a ton of money, when it's a white Golf GTi

You need to give the Peugeot 308 GTI some recognition, they are a massive underdog. Fast, good value for money and cheap to insure. They are pretty rare with them only making roughly 1, 000 uk spec from 2016-2021

Club is ridiculously expensive for what it is in my opinion. Type r and megane RS for me

FK8: Best Civic Type R shape ever. Don't like the new back end. This was a true wolf in wolf's clothing.

Every time I watch your great videos I have to check if I’ve received a text as I hear a dinging in the background😂👍

Idea for next video JB, fun to drive cars that can tow.

I’ve owned most of the cars on this list.
I even have a mini GP3 at present, could’ve sold it 1000 times, but it’s not for sale. It has to be one of the most outrageous drives I’ve ever owned in 50 years on this planet as a motor trader.
Absolutely love it and how people want to ask me about it .
I only drive it at the weekends when I want a bit of fun so it’s not something I would drive every day if I was honest, it’s too extreme, but if you wanna go fast and terrify yourself it’s probably the best car on this list, it gobbles all the rest up, not to mention they really hold their value depreciation is near zero.
I love the angry mule as one motor and journalist called it .😂

The 2016 golf r with auto flappy paddle goes 0-60 in 4.2 seconds (tried it) so I'm unsure about spending 30 grand on the gti clubs port seems ridiculously high money when can get an OK golf r from the era I mentioned for around 15 grand

Would like to hear your thoughts on the Pug 308 GTi ? It may not be a civic, but they're great fun, handle really well, and there are a few owners who have come from the usual suspects (golf r, focus st, bm's) and rate them as the better, more involved drive.

I'd love if you did some updated videos for 2nd/3rd cars, the cars that you can get insurance on as a 19-25 year old with some more budget lists

Yes JB. A bit of spin on my video recommendation

The Megane RS Trophy R was 70K for the version with carbon breaks and carbon wheels but for the version without the carbon breaks and wheels it was around 50K...So for mid 30's it is a bargain. Handling is beyond the pale.

I know this may sound silly! What about a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus? I know it will be nowhere near the performance figures of todays 'hot hatches' but back in the the late 70's it was great...All the best....

Having driven 2 of the first 4 and close relatives of the other 2, I'd definitely take any of them over any hyper hatch except maybe an RS3 for the sound, depending on how I feel on any given day...although the i30N is definitely a step down in performance compared to the rest, although it's more fun than the Civic so it's a 50/50 between those 2 for the best daily choice from these 5. The fastback version also solves the styling thing, that's a pretty sexy car.

Hyper hatch definition: A hatchback that you only buy if you've had enough coffee to make better cars feel "too slow" 🤣

Really, it's a bit like supercar or hypercar in that it's a fairly nonsense definition - generally people seem to apply it to any hatch that costs ~£50k, since a Type R is maybe one, the Golf R is just an S3, which like an A35 can't be a hyper hatch because it's not the top one, which seems really to be a definite criteria that rules cars out of that definition. Still, fun > fast and all that, anything fast enough to be a "hyper" hatch is probably a good way of describing a car I'd rather mock than own! If it's that fast, make it a proper sports car or GT, why does anyone want the cheapest interior with their 400hp £50k car?

Hyper in a hatch (for me) is either uncompromising race/track focus &/or exotic engine for hatch use ie r32 v6 (truly hyper with induction!) or built 2.5T I5

I was close to buying a civic type r or a i30n 2 years ago but was forced to get a sq5 as I have 2 kids and a german shepherd and was told to grow up 😂 still regret not getting one now.

A 2024 s3 has way less performance?

Have you even seen the 2024 s3 😂 they have added the rear slip diff aswell now from the RS3 and an extra 25 BHP! 😂

My 2017 3 door hatch is more then a second quicker then that Renault according to book 4.5 0-62 and the sportsback that are 4.8 book are recording 4.1 times! My car weighs 1430KG and will leave that Renault standing! 🤣
