Cheap hot hatchbacks for under £10k? 0-60 in some pretty insane times? Second cars that even some lucky young drivers could get driving in? This video has it all - it's basically a shopping list of cars that I'm looking at for when it comes time for a new daily/city car... All 10 cars have reasonable to very high performance and look the part - hopefully this video will inspire you to check out some for yourself.

I hope you enjoy the video!

BMW M135i - if you buy one, make syre you change the sump to a baffled one as n55 is known to fail due to oil starvation on the track, drifting etc
Also zf8 swap is not very expensive at all, I swapped mine a month ago in my 140 from HP50 to HP70 for £940 all included

Another thing, rear subframe, make sure you get at least the bush inserts which are still shit but makes it little better than not having them, best option is to get solid aluminium bushes
Front tyres suffer from premature wear on the outside edge because of how bmw designed the front suspension, get M3/M4 arms, you get little camber(1/1.5 neg degree) which improves the handling and your tyres will be ok, or you can get camber plates

Would not touch a m135i for 10k or under, that's risking it 😂

I owned the 2014 astra j for some time and was fortunate enough not to experience any issues with it apart from fuel consumption. I really enjoyed it. Since there are less than 1000 in my country (South Africa), dealerships charge an arm, leg and a piece of your soul just for simple fixes

Excellent video thanks. Love the way you do some research about reliability before hand.

Love the video. I’ve got a good video idea that I don’t see anywhere else on YouTube - Great second cars for new drivers. The upgrade from the typical corsa/fiesta that isn’t too expensive (under 10k like this video maybe) and includes relatively cheap to run vehicles (insurance, good mpg etc). 👍🏻 any other advancements on this idea are welcome

not to forget those m135is have a lot of tuning options and can handle more than 700hp on a stock block. However, some of those engines suffer from worn rod bearings as early as 45k miles as people track their cars a lot and the n55s' oil pan is too deep for a car like this. A lot of owners suffer from oil starvation on the track and cause the engine to seize up. So if you want to track an m135i ( basically every car equipped with the n55 engine except the m2) I would recommend upgrading the oil pan and the oil pump from an s55 engine as the oil pan is shallower and they are designed to handle corners with a large amount of g force

Couldn't recommend the M135i enough, owned one for 3 years and loved every second of it. Its the best car on this list by a country mile, in every aspect. for £10k, its a

so glad I came across your video. Looking to buy a new car and not sure if i should go for a VW GTI MK4 or 6 compared to a Seat Leon Cupra

I drive an imported Axela (Mazda 3 MPS Mk1) tuned to about 400bhp, and it's the best sleeper I've ever had. No bodykit, no bonnet scoop, nobody expects it to be quick. Excellent support after market too thanks to the US and OZ.

Great video and I can see why the 135i came top i can also concur that the interiors can be very nice. I myself have an F20 125d Msport with some good spec options and the same interior as you would find in a sportier 1 series with the pro nav, leather heated seats etc... all in they are quite a nice luxury little car with some good toys for something so small while having a nice sporty feel with bucket style seats which have a button on the side which can tighten or loosen the bolsters on the seats to accommodate the driver or hold you better depending on how much you want to throw it into a corner

Tip for the gti, don't stick with the stock timing chain tensioner/get one with the revised one as is very prone to fail and goodbye engine

I love that BMW M135i. I looked them up straight after the video.

Enjoyed that but the cupra 280 & 290 should definitely be included as the renaults rs lost its ring crown as the fastest fwd car ever to the cupra for a while. Cupras are overlooked and blisteringly fast bargains. Really cool video though and obviously you can’t include everything in a small video.👍🤙
