The 2023 Honda Civic Type R (50,050$ in Canada, $42,895 starting in the US) is the newest rendition of the beloved hot hatchback from Japan. Now with more horsepower and more torque, along with a fresh new look, the new Civic Type R aims to please. 315 horsepower and 310 lb ft of torque are pushed out of a turbo four-cylinder engine, and a limited-slip differential up front helps ensure the power gets put down. Thomas takes the helm for his first drive in the new FL5 generation. Will it be able to live up to the previous generations and be a worthy successor? The championship white and red interior just does it for me. I spent a lot of time drooling over white integra type R’s with red interiors when I was a kid, and Honda has successfully tapped into that memory.

Very cool. My first new Civic Type R review I've seen. Much cleaner looking than the old version and just as or more capable? I'm not sure how I feel about the overall looks yet. I would hope the 7K over the previous versions is worth it!

It's great, but as much as I normally prefer understated, or subtlety, I loved the fact that the older Civic Type R models looked like Angry Little Spaceships. It gave them character, made them unique, and different from every other car on the road.

I do love this (piped in sound not withstanding) but I do kinda miss it being a car that might show up as reinforcements when the Enterprise is being attacked by Klingons. Lol.
