As someone who daily commutes on 495 and route 9, I can attest to the frustration of left lane campers. I had a lady going 69mph on the left lane so I gave her a little high beam flash to be polite and not swerve around her. She moved over but as soon as I passed she immediately started tailgating me at undisclosed speeds until my exit🙄

I test drove one of these 2 years ago. It was a great driving experience. What really hit me was afterwards. I got out of the Type R and into my wife's car (2018 Odyssey) and for a couple moments I thought the car was literally broken. Compared with the tight, precise Type R, the minivan (which normally feels fine, and has pretty good handling for a minivan) felt so wobbly and vague that I thought I had a flat tire or something. That feeling went away after a while, but I'll never forget how incredibly refined that Type R Civiv was.

1:00 that’s 10°C for everyone else. Definitely not “warm” but for New England in January, definitely warm.

100% agree using the type r as a daily. Great package for having fun and using on a daily basis. Keep up the great content.

I still don’t know how your able to drive so smooth. Even when you wheelspan pulling out of a junction, you still made it look super smooth and more importantly super controlled. Great video as always.

As an amateur driver here in the Philippines, really learned a lot from you, @Tedward!!! From specs of cars down to expert driving and fuel economy. Got my confidence to drive in the highway from you Man, really appreciate your POV vlog specially your daily commute bidieos. Thank you!!!

Not a Honda person but the type R is a great alternative if you can't afford a BMW M3. I actually like this better then the previous type R. The previous type R was obnoxious. It looked like a overly modified car you would see in GTA 5 online. It would look cool in grand theft auto but not in real life.

As someone that is considering this car and commutes to Boston (Route 3 to 95 South then onto the Pike), I greatly appreciate the real world experience and commentary versus another track video. Very helpful and informative. Thanks

I've always wanted a Type-R, ever since the FK8 first came out, but I've been hesitant because of the awful roads we have here in Boston. I've read a lot of stories about Type-Rs blowing a tire from relatively small pot holes because of the low profile tires. Seeing videos of your experience with owning one of these in Boston is super valuable for me.

Great video, thanks for sharing! My OCD is probably talking here, but I truly appreciated that at 3:00 you signaled before you entered the turn lane. The fact that signals are to communicate to other drivers that you're about to do something seems lost on most drivers these days.

Thank you for the content on Type R vs. SI. My SI comes in next month, and I can't get enough Civic content in general as anticipation builds :) Keep up the great work!

I'm in Calgary and I have a 2022 Civic Si It may not have the power of the Type R but it is a great car to commute with. It has heated seats and heated steering wheel which is great for our cold winters! I've considered the Type R but, I would gain more power but loose in fuel economy and other areas. Plus the 60 grand price tag is hard to accept.

Never thought I'd see the day a Civic put out over 300HP stock. I remember my early 00's SI was like 130HIP. Times have really changed. Extremely limited availability of these models in Canada hence the reason I have yet to see one on Toronto roads. Great review despite being on winters and Boston roads.

Thanks for your comments regarding the E92 M3. Before getting my 2019 FK8 Type R, I was considering a 2013 M3. Connecting rod bearings aside, my wife just didn’t like the idea of buying a six year old car so I got the Type R. I’m glad how you mentioned that you often had to live in the upper RPMs with the M3. I generally don’t like to do that as I don’t like to strain the engines of the car that I drive. I work remotely but up until I worked remote my Type R was my daily driver. It does have nice torque and I love how I don’t have to shift really on the highway and I just accelerate to pass cars. Love seeing the local roads in your videos.

Tedward, I'd totally recommend some RainX on your windshield which will make the rain literally bead right off and you'll never have to use your wipers, especially on the highway. I apply it to my car once every other month, super easy and affordable to do.

ACC is the absolute best feature to have in a car, I get your issues with it but for passes I usually disengage it with applying a bit of throttle and making it „passive“ while I’m closing up to the car I want to pass.
Afterwards I just let go of the throttle and it re-engages, so no issue there
It’s a must have for me due to long commutes, makes a normal cruise control feel old and outdated.
When used well, it’s surely an aid.
But I get your opinion on it, not for everybody
