This great! Thanks. Now if it could only cure my crippling addiction to not deciding on a character to play...dear God. Dwarf Hunter, Guardian, or Champion...

I'm kind of a completionist so I try to hit all the available areas for questing and to avoid over leveling I got my xp disabler equipped. This video is helpful so I can figure out in what order I need to explore all the areas lol

Thank you for spending your time making this video. It really helped me too! Small channel creators make the best content for this game.

Thanks for the streamlined guide and also for the energy, I think your videos are always fun and informative which is my fave combo. I'm curious if you have ever used missions or instances to level, and if not what their uses would be for non-level cap people. I would also be curious for a video where you explain your thought process or strategies regarding deeds. Even though I'm VIP, I still like trying to complete as many deeds as possible to try and get nice quality of life LP items for all my alts, plus theres so many different kinds of deeds that I feel like they're almost an overlooked way to explore middle earth. Anyways thanks again for the vid!

I love that they changed the deeds. I always used to start in the Shire and not leave until I had 75 quests done for the +2 innocence.

YouTube just ate my comment twice. The first time I assumed it was because I included a link. The second time I left out the URL and it still ate my comment. It was – per my usual – long-winded but in essence: “With all the new players it was good to revisit this topic. Great job, fun to watch! But I had trouble seeing your mouse cursor, if you do something like this again where you are using the mouse cursor to point at things on the full screen main map, try the mod Mouse Finder – it just makes the mouse cursor easier to see.”

Good video! Would like to see another one of these updated for 2023 and maybe a splash of info on the deadly system for the legendary servers. Also, ideally you would point out where the instances are and what level is best to go for them, like 5 levels below for a decent challenge or on level - ideally a taste of the difficulty as the game has apparently gotten much easier over time.

If you are a completionist like me (just reached lvl 100 after 10 years playing the game) then I would recommend joining a kinship that is lvl capped where they do group content for lower level quests. That or you can join the server Treebeard where xp progression is slowed and lvl capped.

@voiceoftherings I ran the transcript of your video through Claude AI and asked it to give me a guide to leveling in LOTRO. Here's what I got - what do you think?

Here is a guide to leveling in LOTRO based on the transcript:

Leveling Path:
1. Start in Eriador, either in Archet or Thorin's Hall. Follow the chapter and prologue quests as they will guide you to the next area.
2. Quest through Breelands, either starting in Bree or Buckland. Follow the chapter quests as they progress the story.
3. Move on to Lone-lands and Trollshaws. Bounce between these areas as needed based on your level.
4. Progress to Evendim (lower half) then Misty Mountains and Angmar. Follow the chapter quests to keep leveling up.
5. Reach level 50 and start the Moria chapter in Eregion. Quest through Moria from level 50 - 60. Follow the chapter quests as they guide you through different areas.
6. Move on to Rhovanion, either Southern Mirkwood or East/West Rohan from level 60 - 95.
7. Reach level 95 and start Western/Central/Eastern Gondor chapter. Then move to North Gondor and Mordor.
8. Continue questing through Northern Rhovanion, then Morgul Vale, then North Rhovanion.
9. Reach Erebor and quest through the Iron Hills, then Erined Mithrin up to level 140.

Key Tips:

• Follow the chapter and prologue quests as they guide you between areas and level you up.
• Use the color indication on quests - white is your level, blue is lower, orange is higher.
• Visit stables in each area to unlock fast travel.
• Refer to leveling guides on the wiki for more details on specific zones.

Evendim, more like Ever Swim.. well or used to be hehe. There's so many ways you can go and there's a plethora of quests that will turn grey, I want to say there's almost half the quests that you don't need to do when they turn grey and you get no experience. But really, I love to clear as much as possible.

So I'm level 54 on my high elf Champion now. Thanks to 2 years of events and every side quest for story. And I just wrapped up the North Downs and Lonelands where I could basically one shot everything lol. I have to go back to the Lonelands and finish the group area quests.
No one really answers my questiond in zone chat they just say to follow the epic. But Lake Evendim for example is about the same level as the east side of North Downs, and the Wildwoods I ran before I finished North Downs because it felt like it fit around the same time period.
So for the side areas with the same level range, when do you do those? I found an area just south of the trollshaws, I'm wondering if that one fits in the same timeline before Volume 4 in Rivendell? I'm a completionist who wants to do every side quest in every zone in chronilogical order as much as possible.
Also in Ered Luin I did every deed possible (even slayer), before I went to Bree.
Thanks this a good intro. Anything more than just being told to follow the epic questline and forget the rest, always helps lol.

I'm boggled that there are several whole zones one could simply skip while leveling. I'm interested in exploring the story and world, not rushing to max level. That said, I don't want to waste a lot of time on mundane grind quests. Maybe I should simply take some time to explore the outlier zones independant of questing? I don't want to miss lore that might be in quests, I really don't know if the game keeps all the good stuff to the Books or there are stories to be found in less dramatic avenues?
