How to Add Pockets to a Skirt or Dress

the seam you use to stitch ether pocket to the skirt piece - is it 1.5 cm ? and the skirt seam from top to bottom - is it 1.5 cm as well ??

Please, please, please do a tutorial explaining the (incredibly convoluted?) inseam pocket for the Marguerite dress! I got half way through and gave up, unpicked everything and did it this way instead, but I'd love to know what result I would have got from the original instructions for Marguerite!

After pressing the pocket seam to the front, how would you press side seams open? would i have to snip the pocket seam ?
