How to add Pockets to a Skirt or Dress

Take an existing skirt or dress and add pockets to it in order to make it more practical for your needs. It's easy to do with an existing seam, the help of a pattern, some extra fabric, and a few sewing tools.

I have watched many many many videos about sewing pockets. It's one of my obsessions to add pockets to almost everything I sew.

Today I finished the first skirt I drafted and was so proud! Although I noticed early on my pockets were smaller than I wanted. No problem- I saved the pattern I made. The pattern looked extra big when I traced my hand and added seam allowance. I won't make that mistake next time.
