6 SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF BOWEL CANCER

Показать описание
In this video Dr O'Donovan explains 6 potential signs and symptoms of bowel cancer, including unexplained significant weight loss, blood in the poo, a mass in the abdomen, rectum or anus, a change in bowel habit and more.

It's important to know that many people with these symptoms don't have bowel cancer. Other health problems can cause similar symptoms. But if you have any of these, or if things just don't feel right, go to see your GP.

Knowing the symptoms and acting on them as quickly as possible could mean that if you do have bowel cancer, it may be diagnosed earlier when it's much easier to treat. People whose cancer is diagnosed at an early stage have a much higher chance of successful treatment than those whose cancer has become more widespread.

Also please don't be embarrassed and don't ignore any symptoms. Doctors are used to seeing lots of people with bowel problems and it is something we deal with all of the time. We will do our very best to help you get the right tests and investigations you need if these are indicated.

Just for context, I was diagnosed with stage 3a colon cancer that was detected in a my first ever colonoscopy and diagnosed with the removal of 7" of my sigmoid colon. Prior to that colonoscopy, I had no symptoms. No blood, no pain, no anemia, and no weight loss. This is sneaky stuff folks! Get those exams, they are so easy compared to the surgery and chemo.

I'm having my Bowel cancer operation on Thursday 22nd June in Sunderland.
If it were not for one of these videos I would have not got myself checked out.
Thank you so much. The Staff at Sunderland and Freemans Hospital have been nothing more than Brilliant.
Feeling a little apprehensive as to the operation but I know I'll be in the best of care :)

Im 26 and i have all of these symptoms and have had them for months. Its been frustrating going to the doctors because all i really want is tests done and not just new meds to mitigate the symptoms every time i go in for it.

My brother started having issues at the age of 47. He had been going back and forth to doctors with complaints, and they found out he had the colon cancer stage 4. Past away 7 months later

Im not even sure if its blood or foods like corn and carrots mixed with different shades of brown and yellow pee that makes it appear red. Had some blood on my paper, but the stool has been a bit harder when that happens

I have had Chron's disease since I was 7 years old. A lot of symptoms you mentioned is what I am dealing with, especially with bowel obstruction. Been hospitalized many times over it, and i had something called C-DIF, which is bacteria in the gut. Plus I have had two surgeries to remove most of my colon, with a possibility of a third one, but I am doing my best to avoid it.

its strange that after all this time we are still so bad at finding cancer. it seems to me that there would be ways by now to find cancer faster and more accurately. many cancer patients would have survived if it had just been found sooner.
