If Saruman had just put Gandalf in a cell, like a normal prisoner, instead of on the roof. Gwaihir wouldn't have seen him and the fellowship would have all died in Moria, or instead decided to take the ring to the Valar instead. Giving Sauron plenty of time to conquer Gondor, He still would have had to deal with Saruman and the Rohirrim.

I have this odd “Mandela Memory” of Saruman killing Radagast. And this was the event that stained Saruman changing his white garments. When I re-read the books, years later I was like what the…. ???? Lol 😅 idk my bad I guess.
