In this video, we’re going to talk about apples and weight loss. I used to think apples were a great snack. I even used to recommend apples to help with weight loss, but I don’t anymore. 

Recently I looked up the nutritional profile of an apple, and this is what I found:

• Saturated fats — .1g
• Cholesterol — 0g 
• Carbohydrates — 25g
• Fiber — 44g
• Sugar — 19g

Apples have enough sugar to stop fat burning for at least one to two days. At least until you’re at your ideal weight, I don’t think consuming apples (or any fruit) is a good idea. 

What should you snack on? You actually shouldn’t snack at all. Any time you eat, especially sugar, you spike insulin. In the presence of insulin, you can’t burn fat. It’s good to keep insulin very low. If you can’t go without snacking, you need to increase the amount of fat you consume in your meal. Fat helps keep you satisfied and helps keep insulin low.

I know a lot of people who lost massive amount of weight though they consume lots of fruits. They just eliminated processed food and desserts from their diet and lost all the extra pounds. Never heard that world's obesity problem is due to apples 😂 I thought McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC, Snickers, KitKat, Reese's peanut butter cups, Hershey's, Ben and Jerry's are to be blamed for obesity and health issues.

the scaring 19 g of sugar in an apple does not equals 19 g of sugar eating alone. because of fiber in an apple, the 19 g of sugar digested very slowly and does not spike blood sugar by much.

In theory he is right but in reality from personal experience apples are one of the best weight loss foods out there at least for me. Regardless of all the insulin and sugar stuff apples are filling and low in calories aka a recipe for weight loss

The sugar in an apple is largely locked up inside the fleshy material which must be broken down in order to be extracted. It does not cause insulin spikes, because 1) the sugar is slowly extracted and absorbed through digestion, it is not the same as drinking coca cola, and 2) not all of the sugar is glucose, only about 33% of the sugar is glucose, so the dosage is smaller than people think. Most of the sugar is fructose, which doesn't cause insulin to spike because it is metabolized in the liver, not the muscles. Now, how do you like them apples? (throws grenade)

Why blueberries but not apples if a cup of blueberries have the same amount of carbs as a green apples?

Green / granny smith apples are a good alternative. But if ketosis is your goal, you need to be on zero fruit with only 5% of total calories from net carbs, *80% from fats*(!) and 15% protein. Not easy for most people.

One thing I really like about Dr. Berg is that like a scientist,  he monitors and corrects his recommendations as time goes on.  This video is a prime example.

Apples are lot healthier than he makes you believe.Used to eat them, my weight was down, my weight started going up, apples in the diet again and scale's going down again! Why I stopped, can't say but at my fortys I'll definetly keep eating them every day.
17.5 lbs that's 8 kilos lost and no eating habits changed.
