For adults, the CDC recommends at least 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity and two, or more, days of muscle training per week. However, not everyone meets those standards. This is what happens to your body when you go from regularly exercise to none at all.

I'll make it simple
Think that a game is your muscles,
You install a game it takes some time,
You uninstall a game it happens within a few seconds.

I just wiggled my toes, I think I'm good for the day

This just shows how unfair life is. You work years for the perfect body, and loose it in a couple weeks.

If you bodybuild for years, you'll keep your gains for a long time and strength decreases very slowly. A one week pause is fine and sometimes good for an athlethic dude.

As inspiring as this video is, I must say I have been ironically watching this from the comfort of my bed

I guess that sometimes you just need a rest... It's more important what you do in between your daily trainings... I always thought I was eating enough and was disappointed because my weight stagnated. Then I got my first diet plan created on Dietarize. I realised that my previous food intake was way below my needs, although I thought I'm good. At the beginning it was hard to eat 3300 kcal in a day, but I got used to it. I started noticing real gains and it felt amazing. I wish I'd understood the importance of diet earlier.

For everyone saying "what if they never started in the first place" your body is probably in a shitty state in the first place.

wait, why stop at months? What if i haven't exercised in years? I'm gonna assume my body starts exercising while i sleep as a survival tactic

Guys, this is true. I worked out for 4 months and was actually impressed by how fit and muscular I looked. I stopped for a week and it all came down. I'm starting again to gain it back. I can't stand it. I felt so sad knowing that I had lost something that I worked so hard for, in just a week. It all happened beacuse I was bombarded with exams though. So I had no choice. But I'm gaining it back. But seriously, don't let it go. It'll be hard for you afterwards. And you'll feel regret. Not a lot, but you will feel some regret.

Honestly, I feel a difference if I take 3 days off. Being fit is a constant grind.

It's important to point out that taking breaks from your regimen, is totally acceptable. Rest is just as important to the process as putting in the work itself. Your body uses those days off to recover and help repair your damaged tissue; this process is the baseline for muscle growth. A 3 to 5 day break could work wonders, especially if you've ran into a plateau.

P.s. I realized that I didn't point out that Breaks and Rest Days are in different categories. Rest Days are a part of your regimen, while a full-on Break is a break from that regimen.

I don't think I could stop working out for more than a month. It's just too beneficial to me and it feels good to have that control in your life

As someone who worked out for 3 years and then stopped for one, I can tell was weaker, though still pretty strong. Once I got back to it, I was even stronger within 2 months.
