As an ex barista, we are supposed to NEVER take a card with us somewhere. It's supposed to always stay at the window. When we need paper we had to tell the customer we were out and ask if they are okay waiting while we refill the machine. If on the rare chance the card reader isn't working at the window, my store had portable card readers so we would bring the one from the cafe up or just let customers know our card reader is down. If a barista or anywhere like this ever says "Oh i need to take your card to the back for ...." NEVER LET THEM!
