Hawleys are good retainers and can last for years if properly taken care of . The clear retainers are better, less bulky but only last at most 6 months before cracking. Hawley can be designed differently for more comfort and still used.

I asked 5 orthodontists what they recommended and they all said a hawley because a clear retainer loses its rigidity after a year and they get dirty even if you keep up with cleaning. This video is the opinion of one doctor. Look at the studies and thr Hawley is just easier and more widely used

My orthodontist makes me wear both lol. The clear one during the day and the other at night.

My clear retainer sucked!!! I wish I would have gotten this one. It cracked within a 3 months. Thats probably why it magically stopped fitting one night

I literally could not even wear my old Hawley retainer back in my teens 30 years ago, because every single night I would take it out in my sleep and throw it across the room, drop it under the bed or lose it in the sheets! 😂

I have Hollywood retainer that’s because I have overbite, my brother did also have Hollywood retainer but I have braces now

I am wearing my Hawley Retainer right now because when i asked for the clear one my orthodontist said that its not possible cause when i took my braces off i had a lot of cavities and when the clear retainer covers my teeth it will ruin the process of taking my cavities out even leading them to take my teeth out because of it, and my orthodontist said that i have to put a permanent retainer down my teeth and a hawley retainer up. which i didnt want! but i had no choice so.

I got my braces off a few weeks ago and I got this hawley retainer and they didn't even ask me about the clear one. They said it was an option but they didn't ask me which one I want 😅 I mean both are pretty common in my country I think. Though I would still choose the hawley retainer because of sensory issues

I got a halley retainer recently because my orthodontist said it was better so I have it for the top but the bottom retainer I have a plastic one but I ended up grinding my top mollars down so I got a night guard for the top now instead of the halley retainer
