dark colors are the absolute best the second last dentist knew what she was doing. dark colors make your teeth look whiter and brighter while brighter shades/colors like white or yellow can make your teeth look a yellowish grey

Mine were silver to match the the brace. It made my braces seem like silver teeth jewelry, and it looked much better on me than clear!
