As someone who had both of her jaws broken at age 16 to get them aligned properly, I would have MUCH rather had this!! I am 26 now and still get pains to this day from my surgery. Be grateful they didn’t have to break your jaws!!

I used that when I was 10 years old and my mom obliged me to go to school using that 😖 The first week I came back home crying because people said bad things to me and when I said to my mom she always answered “Sweet, don’t worry. Don’t hear bad stuff like that, your smile will be amazing soon and people will have bad teeth”. And when I started to not care about commentaries, they stopped. Now I’m 27 and always receive compliments about my NATURAL and beauty smile ❤

As an adolescent I refused to wear my headgear. Flatly refused. Guess what? In my early 20s I had to have that surgery where they broke both my jaws and screwed them back in a more appropriate place. Massively expensive and a loooong recovery time. Wear your headgear, kids!

Later she will be grateful. Some dentists couldn't care less, and would give you the normal bracers that won't fix your problem, but just straighten your teeth

As someone who has had DOUBLE jaw surgery as much as this is uncomfortable now, it's better to not have to do jaw surgery.

Honesty I wish I got this instead of just braces my teeth are straight but my jaw is recessed, I only later learned how important jaw development is for an attractive face/smile and straightening teeth doesn’t always solve that problem

My best friend wore headgear and a palate expander back in the 90’s. She has perfect teeth now, and is an absolutely stunning woman.

As someone who was involved in a serious motorcycle accident, who’s jaw did not get fixed initially and just went through having my jewelry broken and repaired to fix my bite, I’ll take the torture device over the torture devices that I was in for the eight weeks while my jaw reheeled jaw reheeled.

I had a similar headgear but with only one pole in the middle. I thought it would make me cross-eyed😂😂😂 I mean, I'm happy I don't have an overbite now lol

Yep. I had that headgear as a teen due to an under bite. My ortho had compassion and told me to only wear it at night. It was super inconvenient, but it worked. My jaw alignment in normal.

Okay, so I have a dental story, I was supposed to have braces and headgear like this, but my family's quite poor, so my dentist settled for a space retainer. I was only supposed to have it a year but this woman left the retainer in for 3 YEARS. cemented in my head we had to switch dentists cause she lost her practice for basically abusing the kids she saw. He immediately took it out at the first appointment, saying it's shouldn't have been in that long. Bright side was I had a perfect smile. 😅
