NEVER TOO SMALL Modular Antwerp Micro Apartment - 25sqm/269sqft

Bao Living is preparing for change; by 2030 an extra 40,000 people will have moved into Antwerp's centre, driving demand for compact, affordable homes. The SAM micro apartment was built around Bao Living's SAM modules, a hybrid, modular cabinet system that encouraged a circular layout. Dividing the home into tailored zones and allowing the space to be transformed over time.

A lazy person like me would never put the bed back in the wall

I found the apartment that they showed at the beginning more interesting than the actual one

Small space design works best when it's tailored to the person(s) living in it. Anything more 'mass produced' will not make optimal use of the limited space. I think this is also what contributes to it feeling 'soulless' as some comments point out.

Personally, I see corridor as the byproduct of an attempt to create the illusion of a full-sized apartment with different living zones through division of space, rather than a mismanagement of space. The SAM module is actually quite clever in the sense that it has elicited an apartment-living vibe in space with the size of a small studio.

the whole colour tone made me feel cold and nowhere like home

I would have chopped up that hallway cabinet. Make a peninsula instead and open up the space; mount the TV on the hallway wall. Thank you, thank you

Interesting, but when they talk about material costs and footprint savings, that all just goes to the developers. All these buildings, the condos and apartments still cost a premium and are "luxury." Average people can't afford these places and they're not actually helping in areas struggling with housing crisis.

Really liked this apartment. Layout was functional and feeling of space. The only negative for me was the dining table and chairs being high.

The balcony is That's how people can live in tiny spaces by having large outdoor spaces. My dream apartment. I would live there for all of my life

An entry corridor in a 25m2 floor plan is a big waste.

That pull out table doesn't seem sturdy enough. And too tall to eat comfortably when u have company

I find the choice to have a tiny fridge but a full sized dish washer a bit odd.

I'm not sure but this apartment gave me a really cheap temporary student vibe.

Living solo I could absolutely make this work. I think I’d actually enjoy a super small place. Easy to clean. Cheaper to heat/cool. Brilliant.

It doesn’t seem like the kitchen is for someone who likes to cook so why having such a big dish washing machine? There are half size dish washer out there which suits better to the space.

I would choose to have an in-unit laundry machine instead of a dishwasher every day of the week. I like this firm’s office space, much more personality than the rather bland SAM (although those IKEA desk chairs are the worst).
