In this video I talk about why I've moved away from buying run flat tires.

I discuss the kit I keep in my car in the event I get a flat tire. I have 1.1 million miles of driving experience so have had punctures over the years. One thing I would say is I have runflats on my car right now, the ride is harsher but the handling is pin sharp and I never worry about potholes, believe me I’m in the UK and we have some serious potholes. I’ve had flats due to them in previous cars that didn’t have runflats and yet I’ve hit bad potholes with these tyres and my pressure indicators say I’ve not lost any pressure whatsoever. So do whatever you like, I know what I will be doing come replacement time, more runflats...

you should be thankful for the runflat tire, without them you would need to repair a cracked rim too

I've done the same and have never looked back. However, I've decided to have a space saver in my boot instead of the slime. After some research I found the E60 space saver was suitable for the E90, so I bought one from a wrecker and ordered a cheap tyre pouch off eBay to store it in cleanly. The pouch has velcro on one side so the wheel doesn't move around.

When I’m given enough of a blow, I rupture too 😂

You can't blame that on the run flat u we're running with old tiers to being with n by the look of your rim it's your fault for hitting that pot hole so hard

I love my 285 run flats, but they do ride rougher but I know the roads well and I know where the pot holes are LOL

Run flats aren’t designed for this kind of impact no tyre is. Just because a car is fitted with run flat tyres doesn’t mean you’ll be able to drive into massive pot holes and come out the other side without failure. Look at the damage on your alloy. Why didn’t you upload a video showing how bad that alloy is buckled now after YOU drove into a hole in the ground? I work in the tyre business in the uk and have to deal with idiots like this all day everyday who moan about the aftermath as a result of there own silly mistakes.

Read a couple of things about run flatt, things like less grip etc, that only had me decided that my next tires won't be a run flat.
Luckily we don't have big pot holes over here so it kind of neglects the run flat purpose, and I could always put a spare tire in the back etc.

Run-Flats in a Mercedes-Benz C300 are incredibly harsh. In the past two months, I've had two tires fail. One was destroyed by a pot hole. It looked just like the failed tire here. The car only has 8000 miles on it. The other tire has a slow leak. The suspension has a nice feel, but damn, those run flat tires give the car a very undignified ride feel. I'm going to replace them all with conventional tires which are more serviceable and should have much better ride quality.

Looks like the RFT saved your mags from shattering completely. It took the grunt of the punch from the deep pot hole.

Been using rft for 12 years. Never had any problem other than a few punctures that were easily plugged.
You will curse yourself for switching to non rft when have a puncture in the most inconvenient time and location!

Did the same with a regular tire, I hit a bad pot hole and blew out my Michelin 225 55 18

Don't you need a jack so you can rotate the tire to the right spot?

A spare would have saved you a tow. Not sure that it mightn't have saved your rim, so probably a wash. Replacing your almost worn SSTs with brand new standard tires would ride a lot better, but probably a new set of SSTs would too. New tires always seem better so really can't be too certain.

I'm pretty sure run flats are meant to protect u from nails and small things puncturing your tires. My runflats have saved me from missing work because of a flat, numerous times. Had i not had them, i would have been screwed.

I have 2016 Cadilac ATS4 with Continental run flats and my ride rough is hell I was wondering who haven’t tried their car on regular tires after a while?
Just wanna know who did switched to normal tires like I’m thinking of doing after watching many videos?
So far one thing is clear that run-flats only will safe you from a loosing all air due to puncture and a wall side damage like I had last night will make you loose 1000$ Plus and my ride was very rough on them since the beginning but now I know that by carrying A fix a tire kit and driving on normal tires you’ll safe about 1500$ on all four tires change

If you have the slime kit, you still need the tire plug kit?
