'Thank goodness you had fix-a-flat' said no mechanic ever! I used to work in a commercial lawn mower shop and people would come in with flat tires filled with that junk and it was NASTY. Smelled terrible and ate the paint off the rims.

If a Mini was builded and purchased with run flat tires from factory, I really wonder if it has a special suspension setup or not. If so, then the change to non RFs will affect the ride performance. Do you know anything about it?

Yeah man, this is a topic that I'm torn over. My Miata has non-run flats, but has a tiny donut spare. My BMW X3 has run flats and no spare, and I absolutely HATE them. My wife's Mini Cooper also has run flats and no spare, but her car seems to ride a little better on them than my BMW...not quite as noticeable. That being said, I would rather have them on HER car so she can make it back to me safe and sound and I can make the needed repairs. So if your household has a young driver or significant other who is not mechanically minded, the run flats provide peace of mind. If performance is more what you're after, then ditch the run flats and get a can of "fix-a-flat" to keep in the trunk. ***On a side note, there is a big cost difference too. Run Flats cost more to purchase, and tire shops all say that you can not patch them either. So if you get a nail in a Run Flat, you have to replace the tire. A normal tire you can just plug/patch if you get a nail.

I'd get a matching Full size spare wheel and non-run flat Goodyear tires! I've had perfect luck with my SUVs doing that!

I have a mini countryman all 4. The tires are horrible and make a lot of noise, also a lot of tramlining. Do you know if i can switch to normal tires if the car is all 4 drive?

Run flats have been greatly improved in the last couple of years. They now drive like regular tires.
