I remember a conversation with my granddaughter when she was about 10. She was a deep thinker (and still is). We were discussing various religions and she said: "But you can't just make up a religion, can you?" And I said, "well, yes, that's exactly what people have done."

My mom taught me if any religion or church requires you to pay money to be in their community, is a cult. Turns out she was SPOT ON. 👍

I'm so glad i found this vid.
To start with, i am NOT mormon. But I've dated a mormon, and she lived a very tough life. Her and i both were romantically involved while teenagers and she too had to confess her " sins " to a bishop. She never told on herself, but wrote it in her diary. Her mom, regularly broke into her room to snoop, found it and then told her church.
My GF tried to find another church for the entire time she dated me. But her parents pretty much black mailed her back into the faith by holding her family away from her. She felt hopeless and chose to go to BYU for free. Right before this, we decided to get an apartment together.
But sadly she fell back into the religion. I truly hope she finds videos like this every day. I want her to be happy and not manipulated by a cult.

I was raised Mormon, I didn't feel welcome at all. The families in our Ward were all either related to each other, or have been friends for generations, and my family weren't a part of that. We weren't quite ignored completely, but we were always made to feel like an afterthought. I felt very isolated, and I recall telling the Bishop at my yearly 'meeting' that I felt lonely at church, and just wanted a friend. He told me that I shouldn't be coming to church to socialize, but to hear the 'truth'. Yeah, spoken by a guy who's constantly surrounded by people who adore him.

Having grown up in Utah and not being religious. Mormonism seems like a designer religion. It’s all image once the text is put into question.

I'm a recent subscriber to Cults To Consciousness, and as an ex-Mormon, have learned so many things about the religion that I didn't know when I was in it. She also covers many other cults like Scientology, Amish, and others.

This is one of the testimonies that really make Conservatives seethe so much at Urban Environments and Higher Education. Always remember this video, guys. This is what Conservatives and Fundamentalists want to hide.

Although it's great that her friend cared enough to intervene, it's a testament to C2C's character and intelligence that she didn't react defensively and sink deeper into the myth.

I can't believe how much of this stuff sounds like the Pentecostal church I used to attend.

My spouse and I were both raise Mormon and got sealed in the Temple before leaving. Videos like this have helped in my deconstruction, and it's a mix of fascinating, amusing, and horrifying to look back on all the stuff we believed and the problematic shit the church has done/is doing. The temple ceremony still involves kind of a watered-down version of the blood oath, btw. We just don't say it outright. It's more like we make weird hand gestures, someone tells us that it's ordained of God, and we accept it as one of His mysteries. Still culty, but now even shadier and more secretive.

My dad left Mormonism at around 16, due in part to the inherent racism (literally in the book), and after every meeting with the bishop or whomever it was, he was always left with more questions than answers as the guy would regularly contradict the word in the book. On the topic of changing doctrine: my mom's dad, who was a Christian Reformed pastor, had obtained an older copy of the Book of Mormon, and would regularly get visits from church representatives trying to exchange a new copy for his older one... he always refused 😄 They do not like evidence of their missteps

Owen, I grew up mormon and never knew how he "translated" it until watching South Park. I also didn't know it was a cult until watching videos from you, Chris Shelton, and Lloyd Evans.

Edited to add, I knew as a child that I would never be good enough for the celestial kingdom and figured even the bottom part of heaven was ok. I also remember them asking me about sex when I was 8 and didn't even know what it was. I'm now an apostated atheist, so I'll be in mormon hell when I die. 😂

Two of my favorite creators. I am a former Mormon and found soooo many similarities between JW's and Mormons from a coercive influence standpoint.

Thank you for posting more Mormon content. I’m dating a girl in the LDS church. And she wants me to convert. My family is Catholic. I like her a lot, but this is gonna be tough.

Being older, I grew up in Mormonism in the 50's and 60's. I enlisted in the Navy in the early 70's and had no contact with Mormonism. When I finally got a computer around 2005, I did go to a church site to see what they were up to and was surprised how much everything had changed. Remember that one of the big talking points of this church was that they believed there was an apostacy and all Christian churches were false. In comparing what I was taught as a youth to some of the present day beliefs, it was like another Apostacy had occurred and there was now a different church calling itself LDS.
