Once he lost his career, he began to resent you for still having yours. He secretly grew to hate you for being good to him, and the more he cheated and treated you poorly, the more he began to hate himself. He projected his self hate on you. He was this guy all along, but the more you thrived and had something special about you, the deeper he got in self-pity. He wanted to see how far he could break you because he needed to see you as an equal. That's how he sees himself. I'm glad you're no longer in a relationship that was literally driving you mad. He probably didn’t want to go to a therapist because for some reason he probably can’t face who he is as a person. So sorry you had to go through that!

This made me deep that cheating is grounds to end the relationship right then and there. No turning back, no ifs no bits. Before I thought, cheating could be worked around through time and forgiveness but evidently the relationship after that is forever tainted and not worth salvaging. After such an act, the paranoia and distrust would drive anyone crazy. Cheating is too much of a betrayal unless you would be able to work within a polygamous relationship. It’s just never the same smh.

For anyone who’s been through narcissistic abuse, this story hits close to home. I cried a few times watching this because I actually felt your pain.
The part where he randomly told you he doesn’t love you anymore and you described him as “ cold” that’s where he was making you go through the devaluing stage. A stage where your partner turns cold, and yet you’re there confused and extremely depressed trying to figure out where it all went wrong. It was his plan to do it right after he felt you had nothing to offer him after he depleted you financially and removed you from the house. He’s an absolute piece of shit. I am so proud of you Diana. A lot of people who haven’t gone through NA can listen to your story and learn from it and for people who have unfortunately experienced narcissistic abuse, you have no idea how it feels to know we are not alone. We love you! I’m happy to see you at the other side and you’re giving us all hope! Thank you.
