Enjoy! And please take the time to *plus and/or comment* if you like our Cutaway Insights series.

Yours, Sauber F1 Team

PS: We will publish episode 3 later today, and episode 4 is coming up tomorrow. So *stay tuned* and don't forget to *circle us in*.

Matt Morris has done incredible cars and some great advances to Sauber, the best example the C31, we would see how it works the C32

Its nice the idea of making short videos, but i would also like longer videos where you can go deeper into each part of the car. For example the wind speed measure is super interesting but it seems like you just mention it and then its over. Still congratulations for your work !!! Its awesome to know these things from the car and to know directly from Sauber !!!

It's a BMW Sauber F1.08 chassis (from 2008), yes. Tip: Watch the original Cutaway F1 car video, too!

Understood, Santiago. Why don't we agree on this: We continue our 'shorties series' for now and we think about longer, more in-depth videos for the future.

Well, it would be very extraordinary to step into F1 directly from karting, wouldn't it? Let's see if you can cope and make your way to GP2 first, shall we?

sauberfteam

Yes, indeed. Well, not with this specific chassis that was cut in half, but he won driving a F1.08.

Regulations stipulate that "20.4 Transponders :
All cars must be fitted with two timing transponders supplied by the officially appointed timekeepers. These transponders must be fitted in strict accordance with the instructions detailed in the Appendix to these regulations." For everyone interested: you can download the technical regulations from FIA(dot)com - incl. tech drawings etc.

Well, the idea was to produce 'shorties' - compact information about a lot of different things rather than another long video about a few things. Episode 3 (Nico explains the driver's seat) will be a little longer - and it will already be published next week!

You're welcome. We could continue this for ever: No, thanks to YOU! ;-)

yes, exactly, but as in all motorsport, in case of equality on the finish line, the photo finish is the criteria, and if the photo finish reveal another equality, they compare the best race lap of each driver.

Nico will do the next one - episode 3 about the driver's seat.

Do the triggers have to be placed in the sidepods? Could they not be placed on the front nose cone for an additional 1/1000th lap time advantage? I assume they aren't there for protection against damage on the first lap for example?

Hm... What's your lap time on F1 2012 in, let's say, Barcelona? ;-)

Does the positioning of the transponder triggers for lap times on the F1 cars make a difference to times, given that .ooo1 secs is the
difference between winning and losing quals.??

havent played 2012 because of the bugs :( but in 2011 around 1:20-1`s and in rFactor 1:22.XXX :D so, when can i start =) ?

it would be an extraordinary thing to step into F1 directly from karting, but there's a first for everything, isnt there? and im not exactly rich, i may be lacking money, but i may have the talent :D wouldnt you like to do like McLaren did with Hamilton?

Watch episode 3 and decide :-) There are some rather tall drivers, and the taller, the more 'difficult'. But, acutally, the physique is more important. Are you sporty or more of a couch potatoe? ;-)

im dead serious about this...ive started karting 3 years ago, so im not a complete noob :)
