I tore my rotator cuff a few years ago because I was pulling my bow back incorrectly. I rehabbed my shoulder with the Archery Strong program and that is the only reason I can still shoot today.
Good information in this video.

Into space is my new favorite saying when I’m teaching my friends and family how to shoot Archery.

I’m glad that a lot of the YouTube archers and good archers are finally addressing this. High poundage doesn’t matter it’s form and technique!

Dude you are so 100% right on how to draw a bow correctly. You do the best example of how to draw your bow the wrong way and the right way. You should show the guy from Bow Disciples. I keep telling him that he is sky drawing and pulling too much draw weight on his bow. He tells me that I have no clue what I'm talking about but look at it. Keep up the great vlogs!!!

When I learned this it helped me 100 percent. I have a really bad shoulder. It needs a full replacement but I’m avoiding it as much as possible. I bought a new bow 2 years ago and I started shooting a little at a time. I hadn’t shot in 5 years or so. I was a little scared of it at first. I could shoot decent. I wound up accidentally Robin Hooding an arrow which I had never done before. The bow was so smooth. But getting through learning how to draw has strengthened my shoulder. I’m not afraid of it popping out. It’s so much better and easier to get on target. Great video. 👍

Great point for all archers. I’m older now and wish that someone had told me this when I was younger. You can cause scarring in your shoulders and not know this until you tear something or later in life feel the effects of your injuries you have sustained in your youth. So take this in consideration when choosing a poundage that’s right for the individual. Start with an easily handled poundage and work your way up, but always use good form and hopefully you’ll have a long career shooting and hunting with your bow .😊

That’s great info. When I was working in a shop it was amazing how many folks wanted the higher draw weight. Especially young bucks…the macho thing!
Additionally when hunting try to stay within your body frame when drawing. Keeping within your silhouette hides lots of movement.
Keep up the good info.

This is a very knowledgeable person. Spending the majority of the video on what NOT to do, is only helpful for some. It will also confuse beginners, showing many incorrect ways to do things, when they have a clean slate.

This was super helpful! I kept doing the “facing the ground” drawback

I generally think 7/10 people try and pull too much weight. The vast majority of Midwest whitetail hunters should be at 50-60 lbs in my view. Sure in the middle of summer with a T-shirt on shooting 3D 70 lbs is no problem. But when the moment of truth comes in mid-November with 4 layers of gear on, nerves, etc 60 is soooo much better.

Oof now seeing this I’m pretty sure I do one of these. I’m shooting in the morning. I’ll be on the lookout for it. Thanks for this.

That was extremely helpful. I was definitely bicep drawing.

That slight lean toward the bow makes it a lot more back and less arm 👍

Definitely doing to sky draw. I hurt my rotator cuff outside of archery and and haven't been able to shoot for a few months. Now that hunting season is coming I am getting back to the range. Sometimes I draw back fine but other times my shoulder completely gives out. I'll have to go and see what the issue is in my draw.

Great video I was just working on this shooting today.

Can you talk about the difference between sky drawing and how some people start with a high bow arm to keep the front shoulder from rolling forward and levering the bow downward as they draw directly to the face. I see lots of people saying this is sky drawing bit it is a technique taught by Some too end coaches. Think Chris Bee style of drawing. Good video 👍
