Laziness and burnout aren't always easy to distinguish; burnout is described as "a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion due to chronic stress and an inability to cope with it."

Burnout can be masked by a few signs. Here are a few that tell you it's not laziness, but burnout.

Burnout and Depression are soul crushing. Grateful for the little things that keep me going, but it’s difficult to take care of yourself when you are running on empty.

When I quit my last job I didn’t work or do anything for 6 months. I just didn’t want to work, not even part time or temp. The job I left was so incredibly stressful it caused mental health issues. My burn out level was off the charts. So I took some time off to recover and get healthy again. It took a big bite out of my savings and I packed on 15 lbs. but in the end it was worth it. I found a much better job and I’m 100% recovered. Burn out is real folks. Don’t let yourself get crushed by it. Heed the warning signs and take care of yourself.

Being burned out means feeling empty and mentally exhausted, devoid of motivation, and beyond caring. People experiencing burnout often don't see any hope of positive change in their situations. If excessive stress feels like you're drowning in responsibilities, burnout is a sense of being all dried up.

Nobody tries to understand that just working hard isn't the purpose of life that's just some brainwashing we went through in school so that we make better corporate slaves. We need time for ourselves, our friends and family and our hobbies. In my opinion, a life with only hard work and lots of depression is not worth living.

The worst thing is when your friends bail on you for the negative changes associated with burnout. They don't consider anything else except that they now see as you being ill-tempered and having a poor attitude and outlook on life... now you're totally disconnected and nobody cares if you're there or not.

this is definitely accurate. i started experiencing burn out two years ago and still haven't overcome it. my parents think im just lazy, but in reality, i cant even do simple every-day tasks or take proper care for myself. my health also is declining and i no longer feel passionate for anything. everything feels so mentally draining and all i can do is sleep or stare numbly into space. can anyone relate?

Sounds more like ageing. I'm 45 now and the world has changed so much in the last twenty years that i don't feel i belong in it. I feel like a ghost, haunting the present.

*6 Signs You're Burnt out, Not Lazy* (yes, it's actually 6 signs mentioned in the video, not 7)
0:58 - You are disconnected from everything
1:40 - You used to be motivated
2:06 - You used to be passionate
2:37 - You have become moody and irritable
3:07 - You have neglected your self-care
3:38 - You noticed these changes happen gradually

To anyone relating to these signs: take care, burnout is never easy to cope with.
What is important is that you make a tiny step every day in the right direction. Spending time in nature or with loved ones, exercising and eating healthy, engaging in fun activities and socializing is necessary in order to feel happy and energetic. Doing these things is not going to be easy if you feel burn out, but if you do make the effort, you *will* start to gradually feel better ❤️🚀🌙

Praying for everyone commenting on this. I understand and it’s comforting to know that many people do as well. We can learn from each other and help each other as many of us are in different phases of this. God bless you all and thank you.

it's like this channel knows exactly what i'm going through, thank you so much for this video it actually made me realise this is what is happening to me lately, its so hard to make me and people who surround me understand that im not lazy, i'm just going through a rugh time, and the fact that they dont get it, makes it more difficult to overcome.

Number 3 hits me hard.
I used to love my work. After years of working, the toxic work culture (overtime, office politics, toxic colleagues, micromanagers) really took its toll on me mentally, emotionally, and physically. At some point, I could relate to all the signs in the video. So, I quit my job really hating my work. Now, I'm trying to shift to a different career and have been trying to recover.
Quite sad when you begin to hate something you used to love.

Wow, I knew something was wrong with me. I keep telling people I know I’m burned out, but no one listens! This makes so much sense. I live for the weekends where I can just lay around and do nothing. Ugh 😩 The hard part is life doesn’t stop when you need it to.

I have been burnt out so many times.. I have developed major depressive disorder and anxiety. The way you put the plant as a visual... that really made me think of when I was suicidal and how I told myself to not be. One day, I thought of my mom's beautiful plants and flowers she has. That she cares for them so much for them to be so beautiful. It hit me all at once that I cried. I knew I have my mom caring and loving me and I'm a beautiful flower. As long as I know I have love and support like I have from her, I won't wilt and die. I'll grow and continue to be beautiful. It really is simple things like that. Nature. A "stop to smell the roses". I hope everyone is doing okay and has the love and care or finds it that they need ❤
