Leaf fans need to be prepared that nobody of value will be acquired at or before the trade deadline. The Leaf brass has said that they are not willing to part ways with their top prospects and or future draft picks. So at the end of the day this leaves them willing to part ways with their AHL players and or their 3rd and 4th line NHL players since their top 6 paid players all have no movement clauses (Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Tavares, Rielly & Bertuzzi). They are also tight to the cap so any money coming in will also need to come out.

If Zadorov wasn't happy in Calgary, then goes to the best team in the League and isnt happy there after a couple weeks.... sounds like a Zadorov problem and he'll want out of Toronto faster than both those other teams.

I don't feel that the current Leaf team is close enough to being a legitimate contender to keep giving away the future only to get bounced in the first or second round. It seems that the Leafs have bigger problems. When you look at the top-end talent on this team, the team as a whole is underperforming. This group has already proven that they can't or even worse, won't play a heavy game which is precisely why they won't go deep in the post-season.

Leafs need to make minor tweaks and ride out the season . They don't have the assets to improve this team in season . I would even consider trading some of their UFAs and restock their draft picks and or prospect pool

Vancouver wanted a good 2c they got that. They gave up Kuzy who has been a healthy scratch on the best team in the league about a dozen times this year, the first rounder is the shitiest one they've had in about a decade, Boomer and the fourth rounder are fluff. So basically it comes down to Kuzy and Hunter. There line-up remains the same and they added atop 2c. Losing Hunter may hurt in the future but for the Canucks the 'future' looks to be the next few years.

Zadorov is trash on the ice and poison in the dressing room, Tanev is exactly what the Leafs need, even a slight over pay would be worth it.
