That was insanely self aware, dude understood how that works very very well.

What a nice young man, I wonder what types of conversations he has with his parents.

That actually reminds me of a quote from a Writer, Clarice Lispector: "Even cutting our own flaws can be dangerous, you never know which one is holding your whole building together".

He articulated what I’ve said forever. My insecurities and fear of “not being good enough” is what constantly pushes me

that guy has an insanely positive outlook. He is going to continue to do well!
I feel like I see parallels in my life, my insecurities also force me to do my work well in a way.

I have the opposite problem — insecurity and depression hinders me greatly, but if i somehow manage to get past it, the crushing weight of just how much life I have missed out on catches up with me.
Somehow, watching life speed by without fully understanding just how much it is escaping me is less terrifying than the full acknowledgment and comprehension that it is.

That's how I feel about anxiety. As someone with ADHD, my anxiety has saved me so many times. If I lose the anxiety, then there's nothing keeping my ADHD in check.

Sounds like motivational anxiety, which is a negative motivator. Negative motivators work to a limited extent, but relying on them long-term or for higher difficulty scenarios will result in burnout and apathy, at which point one might wish they had many positive motivators to choose from before the collapse.

Only once in my life was I left speechless, while reading an incredible French novel named "La Horde du Contrevent". In this book, a powerful warrior tells his apprentice something along the lines of :

"The reason I chose you as an apprentice is because you have the strerf, the inner battle of those who know they're beneath. You'll become the best by repeatedly not being it, and by fighting to overcome the feeling."

Maybe that’s not “insecurity”, but just an awareness that you can improve more. Insecurity is usually something that makes us act rashly or unhealthily, but humility or the drive to improve puts us in control of ourselves.

Better analogy.

Unlock Insecurity:
+30 focus
-50 Mental HP

Use it to go to the gym, +30 focus helps. But getting hit with insults that drain your mental HP.

But if you can use it to unlock traits for "Fitness - +CHA +STR" + "Mental fortitude +10 Mental HP per stack"

You may not need it after you reach your goals but in-case you need it, you'll have it.

This guy just reminded me that a lot of emotions/feelings that we perceive as "negative" don't necessarily have to be. To him, his insecurity makes him keep pushing forward which is a good thing even though it's a "negative" emotion. It really depends on how you act on it.

I used to have a lot of unhealthy motivators like this too. I'm grateful I had that because it got me to where I am but once you get there, its okay to let yourself rest and recover. People talk about "coping mechanisms" and "trauma responses" like they're all bad. The truth is we have them because they help us survive. The problems start when we keep them after we're already thriving.

I think that you go all your life with these things that push you, you get old and retire, finally fulfilled and happy to just be in the throne that you created by yourself, be proud etc, and then you start to sit there and analyze everything, finally resolving all the issues that stop the present you, that just wants to be happy by simply existing, from being content. Like a natural cycle that modern life kinda breaks with the mental health thing. But it’s fine, we’ll be ok, humans adapt and that’s how we evolve anyways. It’s gon be alright

I'm glad someone can see the positives in it. A lot of people have mentioned the downsides but the fact is that we live in a grey world. There's normally positives and negatives to everything!

This is almost exactly how I feel! It drives me to improve myself.

Insecurity about your life circumstances is a normal and a healthy motivator to change. Insecurity about yourself and your ability to be a good person and succeed by your own standards will always hold you back. I’m getting really tired of these shorts posting information that’s bad without context, yet I keep commenting

For me, the more I loose my insecurity the more free I am to perform with less effort.

Looking back, if I had been less insecure as a teen my life would have likely gone in a much less desirable direction.
