All veterans, regardless of the percent of disability should receive their retirement. It is 100% funded. Each year, the retirement fund is 100% funded as we have the choice to choose which we want. After all retirees are paid each year, the remaining funds, ours, and those who have passed away become a DOD slush fund, hence why it won't pass. It is the difference between living and existing for us.

What about me? For example I got hit by an ID on my first deployment and lost my right eye. A large portion of my right shoulder and head will go through my right elbow. I stay in a total of five years and am 100% total and permanent with the VA, so I wonder what that would mean for someone like me

What about those who have 20 years, was MED boarded, receive VA disability but still do not receive their full retirement?

I am about to face an MEB because of a medical condition that can probably be traced back to burn pits. The bill has to get through committee before it can come back to the floor for vote. Unfortunately, these bills and others will wait in committee while Congress deals with the CRs. I just hope the wording will allow those of us who receiving a medical retirement to retroactively qualify for the benefits this bill affords.

Would be nice to get my medical retirement.... I'm 70% DoD, 90% CRSC and 100% VA.... My Retirement is over $2k a month... It would definitely help me and my family

I don't think that this will apply to me, I have 5yrs/4moAD, PDRL, P/T disability from the VA, and I get CRSC. I have heard that those with less than 10yrs service will get nothing from this bill. I hope that this is wrong as that little bit of extra will help a lot. I wanted to make the Army a career and got injured badly on AD. I had also just re-enlisted for 6yrs before my injury.

I have a letter from DFAS stating that my Disability Retirement Pay for life began in 2004, with a increase in 2011, then DFAS notified the Department of Welfare in Nevada that I was recipient of Military Retirement Pay.(at the time I was only receiving 30% V.A. disability). I asked my state Senator (Jackie Rosen) to inquire on my behalf and after 6 month of B.S. DFAS told me my retirement pay was being sent to my checking account at Armed Forces Bank Nellis AFB with TWO different routing #. The bank has no knowledge of that transaction. I suffered a brain aneurism in 1975 while on duty(USMC) did the TDRL to PDRL for 5 years and remained on 30% V.A. compensation until 2015 when I finally was awarded 100% in 2015. I am tired of being B.S....anybody with any advice?

I doubt this will get a response due to this video being a few months old. But can someone clarify if this is all medically retired vets or just retired from combat injuries only? I was active duty Coast Guard and was medically retired after 17 years, I was stationed in the Persian gulf for a year, but was never in combat. Just looking for information if this would affect me or not. Not being able to hit 20 years feels less like a retirement and more like a punishment. Especially since I am no longer able to work anymore, if I could get my DHS (CG is not DoD) disability and VA disability it would help tremendously with our family struggles. Even with my wife working we are forced to stay with friends and family because we can’t even afford rent…this would be game changing for us.

I am at 19 yrs and medical staff is talking about medically retiring me. Should I be fighting to just retire at 20 under normal conditions or just allow the MEB process to go through its process

Are Chapter 61 federal incomes tax exempt ?

The Major Richard Star act won't help me or thousands of other disabled veterans who are medically retired but did not receive our injuries in a theater of war. It's simply a tragedy. They have deprived me of over $300, 000 in retirement in the past 30 years.

No way this would be retroactive correct?
