Never tell them you have a dashcam. Apologize for not paying attention, get their name and contact information, and tell them that you should get a police report for the insurance company so everything goes smoothly. Let them make a false statement to the police, and then show the police the video.

Driver should deny liability and demand the matter be taken to court. Then roll up to court with the dashcam footage. The scammers insurance company (if he has one) will run outa court at a fast rate.

True story. 2 years ago I was a school bus driver in PA and while going down a back road in order to drop some kids off, I noticed a delivery truck parked in the middle of a road going one way that could clearly fit 2 full buses and he was standing behind the truck. Now I got out of my bus and asked the guy what was wrong and he told me that I hit his truck and that he was going to need my insurance info, driver's license as well as my endorsement information. However, since I had never met him before, I pulled the guy closer to my bus and showed him the Hi-Depth cameras which had every second of my driving recorded and if he wanted to go to court, i'd be more than happy to take him there. Soon after he moved his truck out of the way and after I passed, he put it back into place and got out to wait for someone else so naturally, I called the cops on him. Some people, are just assholes through and through, no question.
