You removed the Force Touch sensor at 4:10 and didn't have a replacement for it??? You cannot use all the functionality of your watch without force touch, sorry man...

Should have showed how to remove screen from beginning. Lifting screen is the hardest part.

Be careful prying out connectors with a metal tool. Since you didn't disconnect the battery first you could easily short out the circuit board. Either disconnect the battery first or use a plastic prying tool to disconnect the connectors.

Some tips you can use for the future, pry up the flex connectors with a plastic tool just to make sure that you´re not gonna make contact with any metal and cause a short circuit and also use some heat liquid to remose easy and gently the battery instead of using that force to pry it

I gave this video a thumb 👎🏾 because since it’s the first one I watched I ended up having to order a new Force touch sensor gasket. Do not remove the seal/gasket please watch a different video this one should be taken down since it miss lead people do even more damage to iwatch

DO NOT USE THIS TUTORIAL!!! Note all the "thumbs down" votes and correction comments listed here.

As others have mentioned, it is NOT necessary to disconnect the screen to replace the battery. Disconnecting the screen unneccesarily risks damage to the cables, connectors, metal clip, and screen. Also, what Derf calls "the original rubber seal" is actually the force touch sensor, which will need to be replaced if it becomes broken (as his is, and now mine is, too). I made the mistake of following this video and now my Apple Watch Series 1 needs MORE repairs than when I started.

Hi Derf.
.. And Apple wants to charge me 150$ to do this !! JUST FOR THE BATTERY! + Labor + taxes (15% in Quebec), + recycling fees, as batteries are 25$ CAD Free shipping on Amazon. Just saved 125$, my friend ! Thanks to you.
Have a great day!

Great tutorial. Unfortunately did not work for me. My device has the fading red apple logo so it’s useless now.

You don’t need to remove the screen connector nor deal with the clip. There is plenty of room, just move it the the side.

Did you have to un-pair your watch first? Thanks for the great video.

I've replaced the battery and force touch sensor and still does not light up. Does that mean I'm screwed? Is there anything that I can replace?

You don’t need to completely remove the screen, just hold it to the side and the battery will have room to come out.

Hey, I'm sorry to leave a thumbs down on this, don't get me wrong, you do show how to replace the battery, but unfortunately you broke the "Force Touch Sensor" that is part of the gasket/seal that holds the phone together. When removing the screen you need to make sure the seal stays attached to the frame and not the screen. As soon as you detach the battery there is one tri-wing screw that you have to remove and then you are able to properly disconnect and remove the Force touch sensor that is part of the seal/gasket.

can the battery from a series 0 fit the series 1? You are calling this 1st generation/series 1 which is confusing since first generation (day one) is called Gen 0 now.

DO NOT PULL UP THE FORCE TOUCH SENSOR (black gasket I think he refers to it as) or your watch will not function correctly!

Still I can't clip on the new battery. I broke one connector already and waiting for the second new battery to arrive.
