A rare case in these stories. Even though their views and intentions are 100% different, they still respect each other and there's no hate. Not really. Even in the older movies, Erik did care about Charles. He even mourned Charles when Jean "killed" him. It's rare that the villain and the hero genuinely care about each other.

I find it hilarious that Charles already knows Erik’s coming, before he’s even near the café. Either Erik’s thoughts are super loud, or he (in my headcanon) mockingly singsonged Charles’ name in his head, just so that the telepath would pick up on it, and know that he is coming. 😊😆

The two pulled off Magneto and Xavier's relationship so well. Even when enemies, even when hurting each other, they still respected each other.

I think what's great about their relationship is, Charles can always win at chess against Erik and anyone in the world really and yet they both respect each other to just rely on their own intellect to play the game

You've got to admit that Erik cares about Charles more than anyone. He knew that Charles just lost his sister and his most dear student, basically his daughter. (He kinda raiser her since childhood). And when he needed him, he came. Not like Magneto, but like the Erik Lehnsherr, he first met in First Class. The chemistry is just ❤

This is the only favorite scene I liked in dark Phoenix because of how amazing Erik is as a great friend to Charles I was truly happy seeing them play chess together again

I think there’s something wonderfully poetic that the final X-Men film ends with a chess game between Charles and Erik just as the first film did. Only this time it’s just two friends enjoying each others company as opposed to two friends turned enemies declaring war. Full circle.
