The problem with this approach, used incautiously, is that if you're dealing with a person who is not doing the same thing, who never really acknowledges his or her faults, you'll find yourself constantly taking blame and apologizing when, much of the time, it really is only 5% your fault. The 95% will never be addressed. And it will be that ratio more often than not. You, the self-critical one, will be constantly working on rectifying your faults. The other, not self-critical at all, believes he or she is perfect and will not change no matter what.

That's no way to live.

"Try to bear patiently with the defects and infirmities of others, whatever they may be, because you also have many a fault
which others must endure. If you cannot make yourself what you would wish to be, how can you bend others to your will? We want them to be perfect, yet we do not correct our own faults. We wish them to be severely corrected, yet we will not correct ourselves. Their great liberty displeases us, yet we would not be denied what we ask. We would have them bound by laws, yet we will allow ourselves to be restrained in nothing. Hence, it is clear how seldom we think of others as we do of ourselves." - Thomas à Kempis

What i got from this... take responsibility for thyself. Give up blaming and finger pointing, in the end all we have control over is our response to any given situation or person.

Focusing on other people's flaws/mistakes says a lot more about the person searching....than the person making the "mistakes" because people that are not happy in their own lives start searching fo "mistakes" in the lives of others (jmho) 🌏☮

I was searching for another video and stumbled on to this. I must be honest (at the expense of making myself a target), there are a great many things I disagree with Jordan Peterson on, and I have been very vocal about it. But I am forced to admit that I respect this insight. The hardest thing I've had to learn is this: it's always possible that I'm wrong. I may have been a bit too harsh in my judgments of this man. It's good to see how I may be wrong, though. It facilitate objective analysis, and I may be leading with my own bias in my criticism of Dr. Peterson. I'll be sure to read more of his work now.

point with this is if you accept your mistake then youll go to fix it. you'll not repeat it. but if the other person is not even accepting it all at all then i would not even will bother to fix it and he will leave with consequences

@1:07.... I don't know exactly why, but when he paused, when he STOPPED so suddenly to think about what HE really wanted to SAY out loud, I was moved to tears.

I've just gone through this in a group dynamic with 4 friends.
They ended up using me as their public "example" to the listeners on their channel live stream. well...It was a bit more like a public execution, really.
It was strange.
I think it may have been the resulting conclusion of me pointing out this very fact of "mote vs beam" to them.
Of course, that's conjecture on my part. Or is it?
I'm confident that it's not.

We always blame politicians for our troubles, yet the politicians are only telling us what we want to hear, otherwise they would have no chance of being elected. A dishonest, delusional, and corrupt society will tend to elect a government that reflects its own traits. Society used to be much more judgemental, now every behavior is equally valid and society teeters on the edge of breakdown because the necessary corrective cannot be uttered. Society cannot last long if it cannot distinguish right from wrong, better from worse, and/or good from evil. Much less bring some social pressure to bear on those who are pulling society towards meaningless chaos. Our current situation allows mistakes with no reality check forthcoming in order not to offend, but endless chaos is every bit as bad as brutal bible thumping rigidity.  All things in moderation, but to eliminate giving of offense is to ask for social breakdown as we are finding out today...

This advice did not help me. I was nearly destroyed by my own desire to please an evil, judgmental project manager.

I was told I was judgmental about people dealing with ticks. It is an insect number one. So if someone gets bit it is their own lack of education on how to dress, use Deet, and be careful where you walk in shrub ridden woods or tall grass. How is it that I am judgmental that it is education to learn about ticks, the type of ticks that could (Could) carry lyme disease. I was told not everyone is like me. Granted that be so but if some chooses to walk in an area they know little about than it is like diving into a lake not knowing there could be rocks just under the surface. I do not consider learning something about a particular thing is judgmental.

This is why Jordan Peterson is so successful and so on point.  Because he is preaching the teachings of God - in particularly The Catholic Church.   We were designed by God,   so who knows us better than God?    God knows us better than we know ourselves.   And this is why Catholics don't go to psychiatrists they go to priests.
