One of my best friends slipped when getting off a roof onto a ladder and his leg went in between the rungs and his 17st body kept going.
He smashed his leg to pieces and had it pinned from his foot to above his knee with a kind of halo brace that went all the way up.
A year after having the surgery done (and still with all the pins etc in) he was walking with his crutches and he felt something weird happen in his leg.
A few weeks later he had his leg amputated just above his knee.
It got badly infected and they had to keep cutting a bit more off until it finally healed.
He was 'lucky' as he nearly died, and is great now, almost 15 years later.
The point being, since then anytime I use a ladder at height I ALWAYS take my time and make sure I've got a sound footing.
Watching this made me wince.

At least they have someone holding the ladder at the bottom. At least.

Happened to me doing a satellite job. The man's son wanted to help. Climbed up my ladder got on the roof then got stuck. He wouldn't put his foot down 3 inches to the ladder. Took about 2 hours to get him back down. He was screaming for the firebrigade, the police and a ambulance. Funniest part was his dad trying to stay calm. He was calling him allsorts and swearing like a trooper lol

This made me feel a sick 🤢. I feel 4M after a ladder slipped a year ago as I broke my spine in 3 places. Honest truth … it’s never worth the risk.

I see what they have done the reason the ladder hasnt been extended fully is to protect the guttering from leaning against it but what they should have used instead was a ladder support attached to the top which holds the ladder out from the wall about a foot which means ladder is able to be against the wall fully extended and not harming the gutter and safe 👍👍

My dad did this to me, only I didn't have the top ladder, only the concrete roof to dangle off! Now I'm older, I realise he was a-hole. I wouldn't risk my kids life like this!

Yo, roofers will do anything for that paper. I’ve been there. The ladder doesn’t reach the roof and the hook ladder doesn’t reach the soffit
