How Tall is Tall Enough for the NBA? 🏀

You don’t have to be a certain height to play in the NBA. However, teams certainly value height when looking at a prospect. The shortest player to ever play in the league happened to be Muggsy Bogues, who stood at five-foot, three-inches. According to a few studies that have been done over the years, height does play a dramatic role in your chances of making it to the big leagues. If you stand at seven feet or taller, you have roughly a 17 percent chance of making it into the NBA throughout your life. If you are listed somewhere between six-foot, six-inches to six-foot, eight inches, you have a really small 0.07 percent chance of making it. Even players that are barely listed under six feet in height have a hard time making it into the NBA and sticking there. Isaiah Thomas did a great job at staying around for a few years because he was an excellent scorer, but unfortunately now that he got older teams don’t want him due to him being a liability defensively. Much of that is due to his height. Bottom line, being at least six feet seems about right.

I never understood why they didn't make height divisions this would allow much more people a chance to play in the NBA it's very unfair to the average height people who are the majority that they will most likely never have a chance at playing simply because of their height.

Thank you for the advice, I was 5'8 but now that you tell me this, I'll make sure to change my heightbe 6'8 later

for having basic skills you need to be atleast 6'10. to have pro skills 6'5 is enough, top skills 6'1 is good enough

People tend to talk about ethic or there’s been short people in the league but no one said it’s impossible. It’s more about the percentage. I agree shorter people have to work harder and some things can be more exciting but if that was the case why aren’t there more in the league ?

A legitimate chance statistically is 7 foot or over as the chances below that are just incredibly small but if we are saying being able to i would say muggy probably will stay at the minium height for the league so 5.3 with shoes I would say is the shortest
