This is dope! Now I want a floating dock! I think it'd be more awesome if you placed torches in the posts!

I was told that the temperature differences between summer/ winter will cause the barrels to " suck inwards" in cold weather....and that to solve this problem, its best to drill a small hole at the top of the barrel to allow the pressure to stabilize in winter months.

So what color is the water before you put the die in? What die do you use?

How is the deck holding up? I’m wanting to build a 10x10 floating deck with the 55gal barrels. Is the 4 barrels plenty enough and do you still recommend filling them with water just 1/4 of the way full? I want it stable of course but I also don’t want an excessive amount of the barrels to be seen below the deck itself...if possible.

so no, you didn't build it for under $20. You still have to figure in the cost of wood for anyone else who wants to build this.
