A 60 Hz display at this tier is just criminal.

60hz is a dealbreaker. Creator Laptops would be fine with 90 or 120hz

I can't imagine anyone who's serious about digital drawing being happy to settle for doing it on a wobbly and fragile screen at a 60 degree angle supported by just a couple of hinges. The display should have had a 180 or 360 degree hinge so that it can be supported either by the desk it's on or the laptop's chassis. 24fps video content (the standard for TV, cinema, and much of YouTube) is also going to tear or stutter on a 60Hz panel without VRR.

battery life is impressive considering the 4k OLED panel

Instant sale if they had included a 120hz screen. Even as a "creator" I prefer high refresh screens for working with a pen. Also, did they fix the third fan whine issue?

It's still early days for Strix, but the Ryzen APU getting nearly identical battery life to the already efficient Core Ultra G16 while powering 2.25 times as many pixels is good news!

Even for a creator focused laptop, 60 hz is definitely a shame.

Soldered memory issue is not necessarily about capacity. I've had RAM sticks die only after 2 years of use. Were it soldered, I'd need to replace the chips at service instead of swapping the sticks.

Apart from people already mentioning 60Hz, this issue also pretty much limits my choice to lenovo laptops.

my boiler controller's screen has better refresh rate...it's almost 2025, ASUS...

Top SKU having a 4070 8GB is a bit disappointing, would have liked to see 4080 and 4090 SKUs especially given the UHD+ screen (130W TGP+boost beats G16's 125W so I don't see it being a limiting factor). Edit: it appears the max TGP is 105W with boost - considering the temps hit 80C at performance there's definitely some thermal headroom for increased TGP (if a 4080/4090 model existed).

Why no one talks about longevity of these devices? Lifespan analysis? Please, it's a lot of money for just 3/6/9years of use. We don't want just lighter or potent laptops, but lasting parts.

I’ve been considering the G16 & now this new Proart.

I’m based in the UK where you can get the G16 with 4080 & 32Gb mem. & with the 2.5k 240hz OLED.

For content creation, this G16 seems to offer more than the Proart to me, & the G16 also has longer battery life.

I honestly never understood why Asus tends to ship its content creation laptops with low-mid range gpus when that's exactly the opposite of what professionals would want.

60 Hz is absolutely not an acceptable compromise for video creators as it cannot play 24 and 25 fps videos smoothly.

Just something I have always been confused by, how come so may 'creator' laptops have no numpad, maybe it's because of the difference in industry but I use my numpad everyday, can't picture myself buying a numless keyboard or laptop without one

I bought my G16 for $1, 400. A more expensive version with a 60Hz screen is criminal, yeesh

Is it really only 2 years since the RTX 40 series was announced? It feels like a decade ... we need something fresh now and with more VRAM!

The gripe I have with soldered memory is how expensive the upgrade is. Companies like ASUS trying to sell you 16GB of RAM for 100$+ and getting away with it is bullshit. I don't give a damn how fast it is, their margin on that is getting closer and closer to Apple. It doesn't make any sense that it's cheaper to order a stick of RAM. Aside from that the screen being 60hz is disappointing, but most of all it can't go all the way back for sharing and pen use? I don't know. The weight just doesn't justify the compromises in my opinion. Great vid as always, thank you for your hard work Jarrod
