Keeping it for 2-3 year my boy I will keep mine for 5-8 years. My strix with a GTX 970m is still running and it’s 9 years old. Asus builds amazing machines.

Modern big laptops are not as big as they used to be. Love having a big display and better cooling. The 16" makes more sense to me.

This. I have been waiting for this comparison for literally years now 😂, really interested to see the performance uplift of the 4080 over the 4070!

i think ASUS should refine the flow series for creators. I would love Flow X16 Ultra 9, 32 GBs, 4070.

my 2022 g15 is still rocking. I'll wait for next year models for hopefully something more substantial cpu wise and non wobbly screens.

I haven't owned a personal laptop for a long time. Got the G14 4070 so i could put it in my backpack if it wanted. It's not replacing my desktop for gaming. Ultimate factor was cost, you can get a G14 plus a separate 4080 Super for the cost of a G16.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:

00:13 *💼 The ASUS Zephyrus G14 is more portable and lighter, making it a better choice for those prioritizing mobility.*
00:25 *🚀 For higher-end GPU options (RTX 4080 or 4090), the G16 is the only choice; the G14 offers the RTX 4070 at a similar price point but with more RAM.*
01:06 *🧱 RAM is soldered onto the motherboard, making future upgrades impossible and making a higher initial RAM capacity (32GB) more desirable.*
02:00 *🔌 Port selection is mostly identical between models, with a notable difference in USB standards due to the processor type and the presence of a full-size SD card slot on the G16 versus a micro SD on the G14.*
03:36 *🎨 Color choice affects price differently for each model, with the white G16 costing $200 more and the white G14 being slightly cheaper than its black counterpart.*
04:16 *⌨️ The G16 offers more wrist room for typing, though the keyboard feel and travel distance are the same for both models.*
05:12 *🎵 Both laptops feature six speakers with impressive sound quality, adding value to the multimedia experience.*
05:54 *🖥️ The G16 has a larger and higher refresh rate display (240Hz) compared to the G14 (120Hz), making it more suitable for gaming.*
07:15 *💻 Performance comparison is complex due to different configurations, with the G16 model discussed having a more powerful GPU and CPU but similar RAM speeds.*
10:32 *🔧 Most components are soldered onto the motherboard, limiting repairability and upgrades, except for the Wi-Fi card.*
11:28 *🎮 The choice between the G14 and G16 depends on user needs, with the G16 being preferable for those prioritizing gaming and video creation on a larger display, and the G14 being more suited for frequent travelers seeking portability without sacrificing performance.*

16" makes a huge difference when you need to add a monitor to properly look 30-40 lines of code along with terminal window after buying 14"
Anything you do which require reading lines or screen space go for 16"

"Two, or even three years"
😂
I kept my last laptop for thirteen years. I expect closer to ten with my current Zephyrus M16. With the price of modern gaming laptops, I can't imagine writing off that cost in two years.

I always remove stickers straight away. They just date your laptop.

ty for this comparison matt,

i'd love to hear some thoughts about docking, so, if im spending upwards of 3k on a high-end laptop, yes I want it to feel premium and have nice display and all that, but spending that ammount of money I want that to be my main system, so that means it's probably gonna get docked,

could you share some experiences on that end? like get a nice dock, and a nice monitor, and see how the laptop behaves when docked, (does gysync work while docked?) you know? stuff like that.

Keep up the good work sir!

GG!

Just picked up last years G16 and having tried damn near everything its fantastic, the i7 and 4060 are plenty and it runs like a dream, and around 75c under load. My G14 was hot, my HP Omen Transcend with an i9 and 4070 I liked but it was literally louder than a car for almost any work you were doing and the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14.5" was nice and loved that OLED Screen but I prefer this 16. This chassis is great, the touchpad is better than most Windows rigs, the keyboard is quiet, the screen is solid, the speakers are ok and performance is great. All at a price about half the price of the 2024s. I'll happily go to the new Zephyrus design when the time comes. For now I'm really enjoying it and I'm pickier than hell!

Something important I realized when I saw them in person is that the pixels per inch on the G14 is way higher than the G16. The resolution is a little bit higher and the screen is smaller, so the density is higher. If your main work involves looking at text, like mine does, the extra ppi can make a big difference to readability and comfort.

M'dude, if I spend this amount of money on a laptop of this caliber, I ain't planning on changing it in the next 4 to 5 years, not 2.

In Germany the G16 with 32 gigs of ram and a 4060 is 2.500€ (which is around 2.500$) with taxes included

I think that with these laptops its as follows. If you're debating between the two, you'll go for the G14 and live with the small setbacks from choosing the smaller one. You're getting the G16 if you prefer bigger laptops.

I don't think there are many reasons to go for the G16 than getting a 4080/4090 model and the 16" screen.

I chose the G14, love it. If you get a Zephyrus, no matter what you choose, remember you will have to tweak it a bit because it gets really hot!

Thanks a heap @matt
Waiting for the 2025 iteration.

Unupgradable ram is a bummer. I could use a new 2024 laptop (rtx4080+ new thermals etc), but at the same time at work I need 64 gb ram. Will have to skip this one then.
