With anything in life, there is always a potential for negative effects and sometimes there can be too much of a good thing! Taking medication is certainly no exception.

This will be Part 1 of a multi-part series where I review how to manage the most common side effects that come with the GLP-1 RAs such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Saxenda.

Today we are starting with heartburn! Let’s go!

⚠️ Are you experiencing heartburn due to your medication? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Just found this video at 4am while I feel a hole burning in my chest. Ive taken 8 gaviscon and it still burns. FML. Gaviscon has always worked for me in the past, but this is some next level heart burn.

Glad I found you - the heartburn has been so uncomfortable

Good tips. I find that one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 1-2 times daily, works great for the heartburn. You can add Stevia to make it easily drinkable. Also, going for a walk after meals helps with the gravity thing you mentioned.

As a sufferer of absolutely ferocious GERD, the heartburn is the sole reason I refused to go on these medications.
I started at the gym instead.

Alka Seltzer worked for me-along with the pillow prop up at night.

I went to the ER after experiencing tighten of the chest. I’m on .25 of ozempic. I had a EKG, chest X-Ray and dye ultimately ended up getting a cat scan. Everything came back normal. I’m still experiencing heartburn so I’m taking lemon water, omeprazole & tums

I'm on ozempic for 6 months and I'm just starting recently having heartburn. It's really uncomfortable and I'm a little upset because Ozempic hasn't changed anything yet, still have high sugar levels even if I'm trying to exercise and eating properly, and have 3 different med on top of it.

I haven't felt anything yet but I just took the shot 24 hours ago although I have noticed already that I am not hungry at all! I'm shocked that I am not craving.

The timing of this video is perfect! I literally just woke up from heartburn lol, on my second week on saxenda. Thank you. I just tried adding a bit of apple cider vinegar to a glass of iced water and that seems to have helped somewhat.

question about body ache side effects, Have you heard of people taking the shots, and a few days are having sever pain, and not able to move/ walk- causing inflammation else where... or prior injury?

I was on Saxenda for a year, had heartburn regularly and got terrible, irreversible tooth erosion 😢. My dentist was horrified and told me to contact my doctor ASAP.

I just started it and I haven’t had heart burn in years. This is the worst heart burn I’ve had ever! Definitely wont behaving coffee anymore! Although I have varicose veins so I was trying to quit it anyways!

So from my understanding semaglutide decreases how fast food is digested making you feel full longer. Does it do this by reducing stomach acid which would cause the food to ferment subsequently causing acid reflux? If that is the case wouldn't eating more acidic foods or adding apple cider vinegar to the end of a meal help the reflux?

Omigosh, so happy I stumbled onto this video. The heartburn is awfully annoying to say the least, but manageable Not quite sure if I can manage daily without coffee though!! LoL. Does anyone have mild throat irritation, like a mild sore throat? They told me I could stop my .5 dosage for a week to see if it subsides, but I've just been dealing with it
