Thanks very much! I'm a single gal, and first time homeowner. Ants like crazy, and seemed liked out of the blue. Lived here 1.5 years, and first time issue. Anyway, I really appreciate the helpful video. OMW to the home improvement store now!

I’ve used Raid ant baits twice now, and both times, they killed the entire colony. It takes awhile, though. About a week. You gotta stay patient. Also, the Raid baits work best if you place all four of them (four baits come in a box) directly outside the entryway to the colony…so you have to find that first. When you do, place them at the “front door” in a row, and over time, the ants WILL find it and carry the food back to the entire colony. I’ve come back after a week, and no more sign of ants. When I cut the tops off the baits, usually 2-3 of the baits were completely empty, and the other 3-4 were halfway eaten. So, it does work. Raid baits are basically a mixture of peanut butter, flour, and 5% boric acid.

I learned about Tero growing up decades ago. It used to literally have arsenic in it! But the liquid drops IMO are still the way to go. Inside, just cut up a paper product something like index cards, or file folders into 1-2" squareish shapes and put a few drops on them and place them around. Ants love this stuff and when they hit it. And it's far more economical than the traps, and as this video shows, effective.

I've tried Terro and Raid. If you want to see ants take the bait, get the Terro liquid. You'll see them on there like crazy, but the colony never dies. You might see them disappear for a few day, but they always come back. With Raid, you almost never see an ant enter the trap, but if you wait about a week, they'll disappear. Once they're gone, they're gone for the year.. For whatever reason, they'll reappear the following year. With Terro, I feel like I'm just feeding the colony.

Haven’t tried any other besides the Terro. Terro works best for me. Might take a couple of days depending on the colonies but it hasn’t failed yet.

I have been using Terro for five years on my patio next to my sliding glass door. I put drops of Terro on a CD and place it in the area where the ants come in to our living room. The ants are attracted to the Terro and eat it but it doesn’t seem to kill the colony because every morning there are more out there eating the Terro. It’s like they have been coming for the buffet daily for years. The only reason I use it is because as long as they have the Terro to eat, it keeps them out of my living room. One tip I can share is that if you have a trail of ants in your house Simple Green kills them instantly.

I had ants in the pantry and put traps on the floor waiting for response. The ants went nowhere near the traps until I put a very small drop of honey on top of the trap. Then it was like they all came to dinner and within a few days they were gone.

Terro is great stuff! Had ant breakouts in my home. Mostly in the spring, and fall. Both times I used the Terro liquid bait traps. After a day, or two the ants completely disappeared. 👍🏾👍🏾

Ok I been dealing with Ants for months. Raid didn’t work at all to get rid of them. Amdro was even worst. Black ants would go right past the Amdro. I bought the Terro last week, and within 1 day I had no more ants

Thanks for taking the time to do this but a better test would have been to try each one separately on different ant trails and to see how quickly they disappeared but this will help some people decide on which to try.

I had Terro outside my window for carpenter ants. Saw them all over it in an hour. For indoor ants, I picked up Raid. After a day and a half still has ants by my bed, so I returned the Raid and got an indoor Terro. Just placed them. Hoping it works faster than the Raid, they are in my kitchen and bedroom!

For those tiny little ants I've always found that the liquid baits work best. Maybe the dry baits work well for other species but the really tiny ants seem to ignore them.

Amdro bait granules works beautiful. My only issue is that it's expensive and I believe it might wash away after it rains.
I had a massive ant situation and amdro granules got rid of them in less than a week.

You can also mix peanut butter with borax, baking soda or both.
