Brother, if you never train your lower back you are allways going to have low back pain. You NEED to bend, it is not as "Scary" as it sounds, just know your limits because its a more sensible area but exactly for that reason you have to strengthen it.

If your back hurts when rounding go slower and lighter. Backs are meant to bend.

Thats also how you regain situps, if the spine isn't moving there's no shearing. (Anchor feet, hold a crunch, pull with your legs. You use your hip flexors to roll your hips, it will move your spine as one unit rather that the spine bending excessively as it was traditionally.

the vast majority of these videos i can not tell what exactly he is correcting and what exactly is different. I go to the gym 6 days a week and am currently benching 160 so im not in terrible shape.

Its called back extension for a reason. Youre meant to extend your back not your hips
